Spoilers for 'Assisted Living' Episode 7 'The Weeping Willow'

Looks like Tyler Perry's new sitcom 'Assisted Living' might have finally been able to appease fans. All it took was bringing back some old characters, referring to timeless jokes by the maestro, and of course, giving their own spin on internet slang that never goes out of style. Episode 7 titled 'The Weeping Willow' takes the audience down a memory lane that connects our two main leads on the show, Mr Brown and his new arch rival Grandpa Vinny, with whom he definitely has more in common than he had initially thought. Or should we say, 'thot'?

The episode kicks off with Mr Brown solidifying his return into the sitcom that has long been under fire for not being funny at all. David Mann's longtime persona immediately lit up the scene — both with entertainment and comedic pace that was missing all this time. But he also pulled one of his fan-favorite stunts of shrugging Cora's responsibility off his shoulder in that little "I'm not her real father" game he likes to play so much. His latest victim? Grandpa Vinny.

The only difference in this case is that Grandpa Vinny isn't so much as a victim than a champ who clearly "tapped that a**" back in the day. The "a**" in question is of course Madea's and Perry's fans know the character only too well. Clad in floral gowns and her signature wavy grey wig, Madea is a sassy grandma persona played by Perry himself, mostly for the stage and sometimes for the screen. He pulled the plug on the appearance with his 'Madea's Farewell Play' that came out in August 2020, but clearly her fame tides high everywhere else.

In their chat about the past, they are connected by Mr Brown brings up Madea and Grandpa Vinny is too quick to proclaim their flame from yesteryears. But fans lost their cool when Mr Brown referred to Madea as a 'thot' — an internet slang referring to women as 'that hoe over there'. But in Mr Brown's case, he meant "things human ought not touch". Of course, Grandpa Vinny quickly corrected him and let him in on what the slang really stands for, but this is a description that fits nobody better than it does the snarky and impeccably sharp-witted Madea.

Mr Brown then goes on to describe Madea very crudely, probably flaunting his Casanova days with jokes about her voluptuous figure, saying, "All I seen were these two big thangs on my face, and all I could say was.... got milk?" — another internet joke that has become immensely popular in recent times. Perry did not wait around to exploit their charms for as long as they still work on the audience. It's a good move, considering the show was starting to fall way too flat for Perry's standards, at least now he has some chuckles and snorts here and there from viewers across the fandom.

'Assisted Living' airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm only on BET.
