Troye Sivan has dropped his latest EP, 'In A Dream', a six-song synth-pop record with hints of electro-pop and retro dance styles written from the comfort of his home amid the quarantine-induced lockdown. Beginning his career on YouTube, the singer has come a long way, and this record truly showcases his journey as an artiste.

Sharing the release, Sivan stated, "Happy release day my guy." At just under 20 minutes this is a short offering from the artiste, but he more than makes up for what the album lacks in quantity with quality. Opener 'Take Yourself Home' instantly makes you feel like you're in a dream, and Sivan establishes himself as one of the most interesting contemporary artistes. Fans are already sharing their love of the release, with one tweeting, "I JUST LISTENED TO IN A DREAM I LOVE IT OMGEHDBDJDBJSS." Another shared, "Omg why is Troye Sivan's new EP so gooooooooooood!!!" and one fan said, "@troyesivan did what needed to be done with this new album."

Sivan began his career as a singer on YouTube all the way back in the early 2000s, eventually making his debut with the album 'Blue Neighbourhood' in 2015. His first single off the release, 'Youth', earned Sivan his first entry into the Billboard Hot 100 as well as his first number-one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. For many, Sivan's successful music career is bittersweet. One fan shared, "I miss when Troye was on youtube but I’m so happy for him now he’s really thriving isn’t he." But seeing as the pandemic has grounded the music industry, this release from Sivan isn't all that different from his early days producing content from his bedroom. Of course, this time around he's doing it with significantly better quality production.

In addition to quality music, Sivan's 'In A Dream' is also being praised for its lyricism. One fan stated, "Just listened to the rest of the tracks for Troye Sivan's "In a Dream" EP (so that's the title track along with "could cry just thinkin about you" and "STUD"). Those... are some absolutely solid tracks and I'm happy to say that. I know those feels too."

Of course, no release is without criticism. But the only one available for Sivan's album, it would seem, is that it's too short. In particular, the 59-second track 'Could Cry Just Thinkin' About You', has fans demanding a full cut. "@troyesivan how dare u make that song only 52 seconds. we want a 10-hour version NOW," stated one fan, while another shared, "It is stressing me tf out that @troyesivan put “10/10” only on the vinyl, and that he recorded but didn’t release a full version of 'could cry just thinkin' about you'."

Short track aside, the album also includes an absolute banger with 'STUD', a song that would have dominated the clubs had it dropped while they were all open. But that doesn't mean fans can't jam out to it at home. "Troye Sivan kind of night???" asked one fan, another stated, "Troye Sivan saved my night. The vibessss," and one fan shared, "I LOVE TROYE THAT WAS EUPHORIC GNIGHT IM SLEEPIN GOOD TONIGHT."
