Since Tristan Thompson has now confirmed that he is the father of Maralee Nichols’ newborn son, many are wondering how much he will pay to her as child support. The 30-year-old basketball player is already a father to two children. His firstborn, Prince born in 2016, is from his ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig. Thompson’s second child is True whom he shares with Khloé Kardashian.
And, in a January 3 Instagram Story, he accepted that he fathered Nichols’ son, who was born on December 2, 2021. Thompson wrote, “Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols. I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son.”

He also publicly apologized to Khloé by saying, “Khloé, you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry.”
How much money will Tristan Thompson give Maralee Nichols?
Lawyer Morghan Richardson told Hollywood Life that “in California, basic child support is owed until the child is 18, or 19 years old if still in high school” and since Thompson has confessed to being the father of Nichols’ one-month-old toddler, he’s required to pay child support. She further explained, “In looking at a support award, the court will review both parents’ monthly incomes, and the amount of time that the child spends with each parent. All income, including money/wages, tips, commissions, bonuses, unemployment benefits, interest income, dividend income, rental income, insurance payouts – all of it is fair game for calculating child support.”
“For awards where the parties earn extremely high incomes, such as Tristian, the court will plug the numbers into the support calculator, but also consider several other factors. One argument for a larger award would be to ensure that the child has the same or similar lifestyle in both homes,” Richardson mentioned, before adding, “Because Tristan is paying support for other children, that will be a factor in calculating how much support he will pay for this child. Reports show that his income is about $10 million so based on that number, and the report that he’s paying $40k per month for his son, when I run the calculator, I get an estimate of $34k per month.”
Meanwhile, a source has said that Khloé won’t reunite with Thompson again. The source told Us Weekly: “Tristan wants to make everything right with Khloé. He wants to win her back, but she will never take him back romantically after learning about his cheating. This was the final straw.”
Though the 37-year-old has not publicly commented on the whole drama yet, the insider noted that she’s “staying strong” for True, who is three now. “Her family and best friends are really her biggest support system,” the source added.
