Travis Scott's Fortnite live performance of 'Astronomical' with Kid Cudi has fans calling it absolutely unreal
The highly anticipated Travis Scott live concert on the popular online multiplayer video game Fortnite has just concluded its first show.
Epic Games, the makers of the multiplayer shooter video game, had recently announced a series of Travis Scott-themed events on its online platform, with players getting access to special emotes, loading screens, skins and gear.
This was to coincide with the worldwide premiere of a new Travis Scott track called 'Astronomical' along with rapper Kid Cudi.
The announcement from Epic Games this week read, "From April 23-25, blast off into a one of a kind musical journey featuring Travis Scott and the world premiere of a brand new track. 'Astronomical' is an other-worldly experience inspired by Cactus Jack's creations, built from the ground up in Fortnite."
Rapper Travis Scott aka La Flame owns the Cactus Jack record label and his JackBoys compilation album which featured numerous Cactus Jack collaborators was the first No.1 Billboard album of 2020.
The first show has just concluded and it was absolutely spellbinding. Over 12.3 million live players were present for Travis Scott's 'Astronomical' show.
Just before the concert began, players present gained access to three special emotes — Rage (holding a flaming microphone aloft), Intensity (a dance move) and Headbang (going full-on heavy metal mode).
A massive Travis Scott avatar appeared on schedule, and the players were able to bounce around freely as the live show unfolded. The first song was 'Sicko Mode' followed by 'Goosebumps'.
The electrifying show was accompanied by out-of-this-world colorful visuals, which included a technicolor glowing Travis Scott and holographic women dancers. At one point, the giant Travis Scott slammed two stars from the night sky together with his bare hands.
Then came the world premiere of Cactus Jack's new track 'Astronomical' featuring Kid Cudi, as the Fortnite world appeared to get submerged in the depths of the ocean. You can check out the amazing new song here.
The whole concert only lasted 10 minutes, but it was a virtual experience like no other, one that even hardcore gamers and casual music fans will treasure for a long time. Travis Scott and Kid Cudi aka The Scotts also released the new track soon after the show ended.
Fans were thrilled by the spectacular show, and took to social media to voice their approval. "HOLY... the Travis Scott event in Fortnite was one of the COOLEST events yet! Absolute UNREAL!" said one ecstatic fan.
Numerous other fans agreed, saying "Yo... Travis Scott Fortnite concert was honestly one of the coolest things a video game has ever done. So sick." Another follower was saying "Hyped I heard the debut on Fortnite of all places. Whoda thunk in 2020. Broooo the Fortnite show was ICONIC."
Travis Scott himself had this to say about the experience: "HONESTLY TODAY WAS ONE OF THE MOST INSPIRING DAYS. LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF U GUYS. AND I KNOW TIMES ARE WEIRD FOR US. BUT FOR ONE MOMENT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE RAGERS TO RAGE WHERE EVER YOU ARE IS AMAZING. LOVE U GUYS WITH ALL MY BODY. !!!!! GANG," he signed off.
Epic Games is also giving others an opportunity to catch the show in case they missed the first premiere.
"To make sure everyone has a chance to experience 'Astronomical', we're setting up multiple tour dates with showtimes for players around the globe. Jump into whichever time fits your schedule best, or catch an encore with your friends if they missed it."
