Touché Amoré 'Lament': Release date, concept, tracklist and all the pre-buzz around post-hardcore band's fifth album

The album is a follow-up to their 2016 release 'Stage Four'

Touché Amoré, the influential post-hardcore band from Los Angeles, is all set to release their latest full-length studio album titled 'Lament'. Touché Amoré, who last year joined post-black metal band Deafheaven for a string of shows in Europe and the United Kingdom, teased the arrival of their new album via Twitter. "Let's embrace the twilight," the band tweeted earlier this year. Later, the band announced 'Lament' tweeting, "Our 5th studio album 'Lament' is available now for pre-order. It’s been four years since the release of 'Stage Four' and these last two years we’ve worked harder than we ever have to write a record we are thrilled to begin sharing with you today."

A follow-up to 2016's 'Stage Four', the announcement of 'Lament' was followed by the release of a new single and the unveiling of the album artwork and the full track-list. Here's all you need to know about Touché Amoré's fifth studio album.

Release date and concept

'Lament' is produced by Ross Robinson, who discovered the bands Korn, Glassjaw, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, and worked with artistes like Tech N9ne, Machine Head, The Cure, Sepultura, and The Used, among others. It is slated for an October 9 release worldwide via Epitaph Records.

The band described the  album as "the light at the end of the tunnel" following a decade of "working through darkness." It deals with numerous subjects like the overwhelming nervousness experienced when someone talks about their dead loved ones, and the difficulty faced when stomaching tragedy. It also talks about taking a chance with the unfamiliar and stepping out of comfort zones. Talking about working with Robinson, vocalist Jeremy Bolm said, "Ross Robinson...a man who knows no comfort zone. I followed his career all through my youth to being a young adult. When we returned from our recent Midwest tour, we entered the studio to record a song with Ross and see if there was chemistry…"

Touché Amoré – which is comprised of Jeremy Bolm (lead vocals), Clayton Stevens (guitar), Nick Steinhardt (guitar), Tyler Kirby (bass), Elliot Babin (drums) – are credited for reviving post-hardcore along with fellow bands Defeater, La Dispute, Make Do and Mend, and Pianos Become the Teeth. They have released four studio albums namely '...To the Beat of a Dead Horse' (2009), 'Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me' (2011), 'Is Survived By' (2013), and 'Stage Four' (2016). They also released 'Dead Horse X' in 2019, a re-recorded version of their debut album, to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
