It looks like 2019 is going to be a pretty eventful year for Tool. After years of nerve-racking, anxious waiting by the Tool fan army, the prog metal legends recently confirmed that their much-awaited new album - the first since 2006's '10,000 Days' - will indeed drop next year.

While we eagerly await the new album, Tool has revealed dates for a tour of Europe in 2019. The monthlong trek will see Tool playing a mix of headlining shows and festivals, beginning June 2 in Berlin, Germany, and running through July 2 in Lisbon, Portugal. Among the major festivals Tool will be playing are Germany’s twin Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park fests, plus the Download Festival in both the UK and Spain. The latest update about the much-delayed new album arrived in September, courtesy of frontman Maynard James Keenan. "Scratch Vox tracked awhile ago. [Adam Jones] deep in Guitars now," the singer wrote on Twitter. "Final Vox after. Step back. Adjust. Mix. Adjust. Re-Adjust. Master. Adjust. Re-Adjust. Long Way 2 Go But Much Closer. #Tool #2019."

So far, there have been no singles or any previews and the closest we've gotten to hearing new material is a three-minute clip promoting Tool's 'Music Clinic' events which were held earlier this year. Check out the clip below.

With so many shows lined up for next year, it could very well be a planned move to release the album to coincide with the upcoming dates. Meanwhile, Maynard has been quite busy with his side project A Perfect Circle, who dropped their glorious, scathing comeback record 'Eat The Elephant' earlier this April. In Meaww's review of the album, we called it a "comeback album many bands would kill for". Read the full review here.
