'To All the Boys: PS I Love you' trailer sees Lara Jean and Peter promise not to break each other's hearts but John pops up

The two understand each other enough to make grand gestures and the lantern festival in the trailer is definitely going to be a big romantic moment in the movie. But, it cannot all be happiness and sunshine

The first trailer of 'To All the Boys: PS I Love you' dropped Thursday and it takes us back to Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky's world. This time, however, they are not fake dating.

They have progressed to dating in real-life and the first scene in the trailer is of Jean on her first date. Peter tries to point out that they have been on multiple dates before, but Jean reminds him that those were really fake.

We then see the two of them go to school together.  The two even promise to not break each other's hearts. From the trailer, it is clear that Lara Jean is very much in love with Peter. Her feelings are reciprocated, and they build a beautiful world together.

The two understand each other enough to make grand gestures and the lantern festival in the trailer is definitely going to be a big romantic moment in the movie. But, it cannot all be happy and sunshine.

So when their relationship is progressing really well, Jean's life takes an interesting turn. One of the six letters that Lara Jean had addressed, was to a boy from middle school.

His name is John Ambrose Mclaren. And in 'To All the Boys: PS I Love you' we will see him enter Lara Jean's life. He has the letter in his hand and the first time he meets her after all the letters were posted is a moment that is a call back to the one that Lara Jean had with Peter Kavinsky in 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before'.

John is clearly interested in Lara Jean because when she asks him for the letter, he says he wants to keep it. It is a reminder, he says, to how someone did like him when he was in middle school.

He tries to woo her with his smooth words and Lara Jean can be expected to be confused about her feelings for him. Yes, she did have a crush on him in middle school, but now, she would have to decide if those feelings are something that she moved on from.

How Lara Jean navigates this new confusion in her life is something that we cannot wait to see when the film releases on February 12, 2020.
