TJ Holmes and Amy Robach fired by ABC after bosses had 'several productive conversations' with them
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: TJ Holmes and Amy Robach, who were probably the most talked about journalists in America due to their illicit behind-the-screen affair, recently got fired by ABC after they couldn't come to terms with the network over their roles on Good Morning America and their GMA afternoon show. Prior to being let go from their positions at the broadcast network, the two reportedly had "several productive conversations" with the bosses.
Both Holmes and Robach were accused of having an affair by their respective partners before Holmes finally filed for divorce in January this year. The announcement of the pair's sacking from the network came in an email sent to all employees at the network on Friday night, January 27. "I want to share with you that we've reached a decision about T.J. and Amy", it began according to Daily Mail. "After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it's best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions."

The email also stated that the network executives will later take a call on who will co-anchor GMA3 and 20/20. It read, "I know that this has been a distraction for so many of us, but let's not forget all the great work that continues to make ABC News the #1 news network in America, and that's because of you. I want to thank you again for your patience and professionalism during this time."
The bosses accused the couple of not handling their relationship properly and waiting for too long before disclosing their affairs to the executives. The network believed that their "behavior on set" made the ABC staff "uncomfortable." Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, were both given compensation packages as they reached an exit agreement following an "extremely contentious" mediation that lasted all night Thursday and into Friday morning.
Robach was also accused of having alcohol in her dressing room by ABC. She reportedly received some of the bottles as a gift from ABC execs. She was also accused of being inebriated at work following her attendance at the National College Football Championship game. "They got what they deserved. It didn’t help that they had few friends in the building to go to bat for either of them," one staffer told TMZ.
The network initially backed their two stars, claiming that they had not broken any rules. ABC has not issued any public statement regarding the future of the former hosts, with their on-air replacements continuing to say that they were just "filling in".
On Monday, January 23, Robach and Holmes were seen together in a New York City pub. The duo met for drinks at The Full Shilling bar on Pearl Street, not far from Holmes' Financial District apartment, where Amy has been spending a lot of time in recent weeks. Robach shares daughters Ava, 19, and Analise, 16, with her former husband Tim McIntosh. The pair divorced in 2008.
The fired couple were also spotted enjoying a private lunch at the Capital Grill near Holmes's apartment in the Financial District just days before Christmas.
"ABC is a Disney company"
Twitter users were also quick to react to the issue, with one user saying, "What happened here is just sad and there are spouses along with children who are also caught in the middle of this debacle. Both are professionals and should NOT have crossed the lines with each other in my humble opinion. I wish them well as they learn and repair their lives." One user tweeted, "I dunno…after all the #political distractions #America continues2 endure, would keeping this pair on air actually up ratings? #USA seems2 lap up scandals & love soaps…hard2 predict." Another wrote, "This isn’t the first time TJ has had an affair with a GMA staffer. Maybe that’s the difference?" "ABC is a Disney company. There were very likely morals clauses in their contracts. T.J. Holmes also has a history of fooling around with coworkers and staffers. They could sue but it’s not at all likely they’ll win. I don’t even see Disney being willing to settle" said one while another tweeted, "Such a shame because liked both of them. Would have loved to have seen TJ take the reigns from Michael Strahan."
