Before hip-hop fans could digest the news about a Verzuz battle between Soulja Boy and Bow Wow, a new announcement has already created excitement among fans. Verzuz co-founders and mega-producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz will be facing each other in the most awaited Verzuz battle on the Memorial Day weekend.

The official Instagram and Twitter page of Verzuz shared the big news revealing the showdown between two of the world’s biggest music producers. The Verzuz series was started by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz at the beginning of the pandemic on March 24, 2020. The two first battled it out on Instagram Live in the first-ever Verzuz and the concept was soon picked up by fans as it quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Apart from their Verzuz face-off last year, the duo originally came under one roof for a showdown at the Hot 97 Summer Jam in 2018.

Air time and date

The ultimate Verzuz showdown between Swizz Beatz and Timbaland will be held on May 30, that is the Memorial Day weekend, also known as the unofficial start of the summer. The duo will come live on the Instagram page of Verzuz at 5pm PT/ 8pm ET. The rematch between the two also comes with a new feature called ‘Verzuz Live’. Timbaland and Beatz have not shed light on the new concept but we are guessing it might include a live audience at the Miami venue.

Since its inception, Verzuz has hosted some of the iconic battles between hip-hop legends such as Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Nelly and Ludacris, Method Man and Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend, among others.

If we talk about who is going to win the battle between Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, it will be a tough one as both the iconic producers flaunt an extensive discography. Though a winner is never announced in a Verzuz battle, it is ultimately the fans who take the final call. Multiple award-winning producer Timbaland has produced mega-hits for hip-hop heavyweights such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Aaliyah, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott. Beatz, on the other hand, boasts an impressive CV with musicians such as Eve, Diddy, Lil’ Wayne, The Weeknd, Drake and the late DMX.

Like always, the moment a new Verzuz battle gets announced, hip-hop lovers storm to Twitter to express their valuable opinion on their favorites and the same happened when a rematch Verzuz face-off was announced between Timbaland and Swizz Beats. Speaking on the same, one fan said, “Timbaland dusted him last time, and nothing has changed. The only 1 on Timbaland's level is Dr. Dre.” Another shared, “Y'all know Timbaland vs Pharrell is the ONLY Verzuz that matters. Maybe second only to Prince vs MJ. I'll wait...”
 
The next one posted, “It really should be the Neptunes vs Timbaland but i digress. Timbaland is gonna run away with it though.” One tweeted, “This will be the illest this far I bet missy coming.” One social media user stated, “Look I was a fan of the original with Swizz playing music in his car but I will be front and center for this rematch!! #Verzuz.” Another said, “I knew Tim and Swizz was gone be the verzuz rematch.
