ACM Awards 2020: Tim McGraw warms hearts with ‘I Called Mama', fans call him 'feminist king' after moving speech
Tim McGraw gave a stellar performance at the 2020 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on September 16 night. The American singer-songwriter performed his global hit ‘I Called Mama’ from the album ‘Here on Earth.’ Even if the 53-year-old crooner failed to score a nomination this year, he made sure his performance left a mark on the audience.
McGraw is an 18-time ACM Award winner and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. The evening also saw special performances from Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan. As soon as McGraw landed on the stage, his loyal fans started cheering him on social media.
McGraw took a moment to give a special shoutout to the women in his life, his wife, his daughters and his mother before singing the hit song. “As a son, a husband, a proud father of three daughters, and as a human being, I am enlightened and inspired by women every single day. Their strength changes me for the better. Every opportunity in life should be available to women. This next song speaks to the questions we face while trying to create the changes that allow our daughters to be whomever they want to be,” he shared. This speech of his saw him being hailed as a 'feminist king' by one of his fans on social media.
One user said, “What is it about tim mcgraw's voice that makes me so emotional.” One fan also loved how the singer took this opportunity to speak about women. “Every opportunity in life should be available to women.” - Tim McGraw #ACMAwards” Another fan tweeted, “On booty rest...at least Tim McGraw doesn't have to "call mama" about those frisky female fans due to the new social distancing guidelines. Faith Hill must be relieved! #ACMs #ACMawards”

Counted as one of the prestigious award shows, the 55th edition of ACM Awards is currently being screened live for the fans from Nashville, Tennessee only on the CBS Television Network. The event was first supposed to be held on April 5 this year but unfortunately had to be pushed due to the global pandemic.
ACM Awards 2020 also saw country music legend Keith Urban taking over as the host for the evening for the very first time. The award show did not include a live audience but featured a star-studded line-up of performers to make sure there is no dull moment.
