NBC series ‘This Is Us’ is slowly inching toward its conclusion and the ongoing edition has taken a new direction by showing backstories about the Big Three. Last week, we saw Milo Ventimiglia directing the episode about Kevin Pearson’s (Justin Hartley) past. The episode showed the kind of bad decisions he has made in his life and how he has always been an underdog all his life.

The last week’s episode was emotional and had a lot of riveting moments as well. But now, it’s time to move on and see the backstory of another member of the Big Three. This week’s episode will focus on Kate Pearson and see how she coped with her weight. Also, we will be witnessing how she and Toby met for the first time and how their love story started.

‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 9 Spoilers

This week’s episode sees Kate and Toby (Chris Sullivan) packing their bags and getting ready to leave the cabin after an eventful Thanksgiving dinner. Like we saw in the previous episode, the couple had an argument during dinner when Toby saw their son eating things that were too sweet. Toby stopped him from eating too sweet and when Kate asked if he was worried about their child getting fat, he said yes, he is worried about that because they both have been really fat in the past and he doesn’t want the same thing happening to their child.

After the conversation, the duo sat together and discussed how things have been getting difficult for them. So, the latest episode will see them leaving the cabin and talking about how they need to take their relationship forward. She also promised Kevin and Randall that they’ll come together at Rebecca and Miguel’s anniversary party. At that moment, she says that “we can’t sustain this”. However, this sentence didn’t mean that they are breaking up. It just means that they can’t sustain “living in different cities”.

As a result, Kate asks Toby if she can travel to San Francisco with him and live with him during the weekend. What will Toby say? Will this be a new chapter in their married life? Or it will be the beginning of the end for them?

Whatever happens, it will undoubtedly be an emotional ride for the viewers.

‘This Is Us’ Season 6 returns to NBC with a new episode every Tuesday at 9 pm EST.
