'The Voice' Season 25 finale: Nathan Chester's fans disagree with John Legend dubbing Asher HaVon 'best vocalist'

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Nathan Chester presented a clear and concise argument on Donny Hathaway's oldie for why he ought to win Season 25 of 'The Voice'. Fans were so moved by his performance that they disagreed with John Legend, who declared Asher HaVon to be the finest vocalist of the season. 

Nathan read his letter to music before his second performance. He discussed how important his mother and music had been in his life.

Nathan stated that music introduced him to the love of his life, Emily Viancourt, and concluded his letter with, "Love you always, Nathan."

Nathan sang 'A Song for You' by Donny. His vocals were nothing short of superb.

He handled every circumstance, big or small, with confidence. And his presence, seemed as if he were singing a hole through listeners' hearts.

John expressed his satisfaction with the song selection, saying, "It was nice to sit here and listen to you sing."

After John dubbed Asher the best vocalist of the season during the first round, fans disagreeing with him took to Reddit to argue, "I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Nathan is hands down the best performer on this season." Another person chimed in, "I adore John Legend, but I have to respectfully disagree with him--Nathan is the best vocalist on this show!"

One user also wrote, "Man Nathan really killed that. Such an emotional performance." A fourth user added, "I just want to keep watching Nathan and that's the biggest compliment I can give to a contestant."

On X, fans asked NBC, "give him the crown or are u guys gonna give it to another country girl/guy ?" Another user wrote, "Nathan is the WINNER, no matter how the vote ends up. No one is even close to his voice and talent. With @johnlegend

Who is Nathan Chester in 'The Voice' Season 25?

Nathan's single mother raised him from the age of three, and he had little time with his father. Despite his father's sporadic engagement in his upbringing and his delayed introduction to his father's half-siblings, Nathan has made a concerted effort to maintain contact with his whole family.

In his early years, his brother Michael piqued his interest in singing and guitar playing. As his interest in performing grew in high school, his closest buddy introduced him to musical theater.

Nathan's music teacher confirmed to The Wednesday Journal that he was a member of the choir and musical theater departments at Oak Park and River Forest High Schools in Illinois. Following high school, he enrolled at Waldorf University to pursue a degree in musical theater and attended theatrical tryouts with the hopes of landing a Broadway part.
