UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: On Monday, May 20, Nathan Chester of Team Legend was the first to take the stage for the Season 25 finale of 'The Voice'. Although the coaches praised his electrifying performance, fans at home criticized the NBC singer for his antics.

Nathan had a sit-down discussion with John Legend and Carson Daly, reliving every minute of this season, from the blind casting calls to the show's conclusion.

According to Nathan, "This journey has shaped him." For his final round performance, he chose "It's Your Thing" by The Isley Brothers.

After his performance, Carson said to Nathan, "What a way to start the show." Chance the Rapper described the performance as "incredible," and John praised Nathan's "exuberance and skill," encouraging Americans to vote for him.

On Reddit, fans initially complained that "Either the band was too loud or his mic was too low." Another person added, "Nathan was great but they needed to turn his mic up. I was struggling to hear him."

One fan suggested, "Nathan is very talented but he belongs on Broadway. He's always acting." Another shared their concern noting, "I think Nathan is probably the best all around performer left on the show. My only question is whether there is a lane for his style in the current music scene. Yeah, he could very successfully play cruise ships, musicals and themed musical performances. But it really has a 70s sound to it. (not that I'm dissing the 70s sound, that is my coming of age music)."

Unsure of how satisfied Nathan was with his performance, one Redditor asked, "I wonder how Nathan feels about that?" On X, one worried said, "The majority of the audience doesn't know this song. Good luck, good performance."

Who is Nathan Chester in 'The Voice' Season 25?

From the age of three, Nathan was raised by his single mother and didn't spend much time with his father. Despite his father's inconsistent involvement in his life and a delayed introduction to his father's half-siblings, Nathan has made a great effort to stay in touch with his entire family.

In his early years, his brother Michael sparked his interest in singing and playing guitar. As his passion for performance grew in high school, his closest friend introduced him to musical theater.

Nathan's music instructor confirmed to The Wednesday Journal that he was a member of the choir and musical theater department at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Illinois. After high school, he attended Waldorf University to pursue a degree in musical theater and went to theatrical auditions with the hope of landing a role on Broadway.
