UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Tanner Massey took the 'The Voice' Season 24 stage after missing out on America's vote the first time to perform 'More Than Words' by Extreme!

As the young singer competed for the last slot in the Top 9, viewers couldn't help but notice his off-key performance.

Tanner's singing was not in tune, according to fans. And his timing was terrible.

Tanner's singing faced criticism from fans for being out of tune, with timing issues that appeared to leave him uneasy.

Throughout the competition, he grappled with tuning challenges.

Gwen acknowledged the need for some fine-tuning and praised Tanner's talent, recognizing the difficulty of performing on such a platform for a 19-year-old.

Carson Daly emphasized the song's unforgiving nature, offering motivation by emphasizing it as a 'moment in time.'

While mocking his performance, fans on X wrote, "Me trying to help Tanner find the right notes." Another concerned fan asked, "Oh, Tanner, honey what happened to your voice?"

One user also chimed in, "TANNER … what was that … da fuk." A fourth user tweeted, "Omg Tanner sounds horrible…"

Some users also noted, "Tanner is extremely off key…." Others observed, "Tanner has honestly gotten worse as the competition has gone on. Especially since joining Team Gwen. I feel for the kid man."

Gwen Stefani accused of ‘favoritism’ after The Voice’s Tanner Massey messes up song

'The Voice' viewers have taken a hard line at Gwen after she ordered one of her team members to sing a challenging song. Rock group Fall Out Boy's 'Thnks fr th Mmrs' was performed by Tanner Massey, 19, for Gwen.

Fall Out Boy's sound is entirely different from that of pop vocalist Shawn Mendes, to whom Tanner had previously been compared.

In the pre-recorded feedback session, Gwen commented, "This is a really good song for you," alongside Tanner and guest coach Chance The Rapper. "But it's hard! Those first verses are really hard."

Tanner acknowledged that to sing the song, he had to "change up" a lot of it. The 'No Doubt' singer referred to Tanner as her "Pop Rock Heartbreaker" during the feedback session.

Tanner needed to "nail the original composition" of the song before incorporating his own approach, Chance and Gwen both agreed. The competitor had added in a few runs and some of his unique flair prior to that advice.

'The Voice' on X viewers questioned Gwen's choice to have Tanner perform a Fall Out Boy song.

One user wrote, "I love fall out boy, but I don’t think I would have ever picked their song for tanner." Another user chimed in, "Tanner and bias are interchangeable with her favoritism."
