'The Voice' Season 20: Snoop Dogg joins show as mega mentor, but here's why fans are disappointed
From Brandy to Luis Fonsi to Darren Criss, we've seen some interesting celebrity mentors join this season of 'The Voice', but it looks like there's now a new breed of mentor in town. Snoop Dogg is all set to join Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend and Nick Jonas as a mega mentor on the show.
From a little sneak peek that you can catch below, it's clear that Snopp Dogg brings his combination of a little weirdness and a lot of wisdom to 'The Voice' stage, prompting Shelton to say that this combination may just be as strange or even stranger than Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. This announcement comes on the heels of the news that Ariana Grande would be replacing Nick Jonas as judge on the next season of 'The Voice'.

Snoop will mentor the best of the best who have made it through the Battle Rounds and will then help the teams prepare for the Knockouts, which begin on April 19. According to an NBC synopsis, "Drawing from his unique experience in navigating the music and entertainment industry as a renowned rapper, producer and performer, Snoop Dogg will impart a new and fresh perspective to help the artists craft their performances." Additionally, the four artists who were saved by their individual coaches during the Battle Rounds will compete in the Four-Way Knockout. Each of the four artists will receive individualized coaching and rehearsals with their coach and Snoop in preparation for the Four Way Knockout.
Snoop also has some coaching experience under his belt, as he was recently seen on the rap competition 'Rhythm+ FLow'. Snoop joins other rappers such as DJ Khaled, Pharrell Williams and Diddy who have appeared on 'The Voice'. Some fans however are disappointed with the inclusion of Snoop on the show. One fan on Instagram said, "You Must Be Kidding!!!!! He is the Bottom of the Barrel!!!!!!" Another fan on Instagram said, "Getting a llittle desperate are ya!?!?"
Others, however, felt it was time a different kind of sound was represented on the show. One fan on Instagram said, "We definitely need more of the urban culture intertwined with the judges on the show! We have a lot of soul that come through this stage who need that."
