‘I survived sepsis six times’
Grace faced a severe health scare in 2017 when she landed in the hospital with septic shock and doctors were not sure if she would survive. However, the stars were in her favor as she came out stronger and better than ever even after suffering the septic shock six times. And, this unfortunate incident also led her to sing.
In an Instagram post shared in June 2020, she revealed the story behind it and said, “June 21st, 2017. three years ago. three years ago my life completely changed when my body was struck by septic shock. the truth of the matter is, the doctors said I shouldn’t have lived. I survived sepsis six times within the eight months after that day. nothing short of a miracle. this day brings a lot of different feelings.”
She continued, “Sadness, fear, anger, worry... but most importantly, thankfulness. What I’ve been through over the past three years has been such a difficult, trying journey. so many nights spent in the hospital fighting for my life and so many questions why. However, if that had never happened to me, I wouldn’t be where I am. I wouldn’t be singing. I wouldn’t be at church, and I wouldn’t be me. I hate what happened to me but I’m grateful for every single thing.”
Grace concluded, “It has shaped my life into something I could never have imagined. today, I am 843 days sepsis-free. sepsis, you didn’t win.”
