Vocal powerhouse Ricky Duran of Team Blake emerged as the runner-up on Season 17 of ‘The Voice’. The singer who met with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) before the finale, spoke at length about his music journey on the show.

Ricky’s last performance on ‘The Voice’ Season 17’s stage was a duet with the ever-talented Gary Clark Jr. He competed against Jake Hoot from Team Kelly, Rose Short from Team Gwen and Team Legend’s Katie Kadan for the winner’s title. Although he did not take home the trophy, Ricky has had fans raving about his breath-taking performances from tonight and the rest of the season.

Revealing his plans, Ricky told MEAWW, “My idea would be to get into the studio, record a lot of original music put out now and tour. I'm still going to, regardless, win or lose, push on my social media and let my fans know what I'm doing and where to find my new music and everything.”

When asked if he has already started working on his original music, he responded, “Yeah, I have a bunch of songs that I've written recently that are just kind of weigh-in, you know? So I'm excited to get into the studio and record some of those.”

Elaborating more on the experience he gained from ‘The Voice’ Season 17, Ricky told MEAWW that the show provided him a platform to perform songs at a higher level that he wouldn’t have thought to perform. “I did songs that I had never in a million years would think that I could pull off,” he added.

Ricky also addressed the comparisons drawn between him and the renowned musician Gavin DeGraw as their voices shockingly resemble each other. Although Ricky loves Gavin as an artist, he has never performed any of his songs.

“ I try to steer away from artists that sound a lot like me because I don’t want to be pigeonholed,” he further added. Well, Ricky’s originality has got him a long way and we wish to see him get back on the stage soon!
