'The Voice' season 17 loses steam on second day of Blind Auditions as the absence of Adam Levine is sorely felt
'The Voice' season 17 returned on Tuesday night for the second episode of the season, and after last night's premiere, it looks like the only way it's going is down.
Season 17 of 'The Voice' premiered on Monday night, and it started off on a high note, with a set of impressive contestants who auditioned for a chance hoping to get a chair turn. The series had us hooked to our screens during the premiere, that we almost didn't realize former coach Adam Levine's absence from the season.
The singers who auditioned were also a few amongst the best we've seen on the series so far. But when the series returned for night 2, it seemed like it was close to a disappointment. Even though the coach's usual banter continued starting from Blake Shelton throwing a temper tantrum because he lost a four-chair turn yet again, and John Legend taking care of his VEGOT awards (The Voice, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), there was something missing from Tuesday night's episode. It was a letdown.
The one prominent thing throughout Tuesday night was Blake's tantrums about him being the only OG coach on the series, and winning six seasons and having an overall of 24 contestants from his team in the finale. It seems too overrated and after a point annoying to look at.
As for the singers, though they were unique in their own way, most of them didn't reach the benchmark set by night one's contestants. Though Shane Q's performance was exceptional, one cannot admit the same for the rest of the contestants. They were good, but not great or extraordinary compared to Katie Kadan or Will Brennan.
The usual banter between Kelly Clarkson, Blake, and Gwen Stefani continued, with John just being the cutie he is, but Tuesday night's episode did make us yearn for Adam. Almost like the episode might have taken a turn at least with the coaches and their jokes. While we have to wait till next week to see who are the next set of contestants to audition, the only thing we hope is, that it will not be a letdown, like it was today.
Though one might assume, that it might be because Tuesday's episode was short, it's not. It seemed like the producers showcased some of their best auditions during the premiere night to get the viewers hooked.
'The Voice' season 17 airs every Monday and Tuesday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
