'Bridgerton' showrunner confirms leads for seasons 5 and 6 with a subtle red-carpet clue
If you thought you knew everything about the future of the 'Bridgerton' franchise, think again. With the upcoming Season 4 of the Netflix show all set to premiere later this month, fans have been speculating about the direction in which the show's future instalments will proceed, and this speculation is at an all-time high. It was previously confirmed that the regency era romance drama series has been renewed for Season 5 and 6. Furthermore, the showrunner, Jess Brownell, recently revealed a remarkable detail about what's to come.
Brownell was recently in attendance at the Season 4 premiere, held at the Palais Brongniart in Paris. Walking through the red carpet at the star-studded event, Brownell was spotted sporting two elegantly designed white pocket squares with the letters 'E' and 'F' etched on them. The rest of her attire consisted of an exquisite brown and maroon suit, paired with white gloves. ''Both characters with the initials on my pocket squares will get seasons in five in six," Brownell revealed to Deadline, further adding, "In what order? I can’t say.”
Judged in this context, one might speculate that 'Bridgerton' Seasons 5 and 6 will focus on the characters of Eloise Bridgerton, played by (Claudia Jessie), and Frances Bridgerton, played by (Hannah Dodd), according to a report from Collider. If the Netflix show sticks to the order established by the Julia Quinn novel series, then Eloise's romance as described in the novel 'To Sir Phillip, With Love' falls next in line of adaptation. However, the series has deviated from the book order in the past, and in the absence of an official announcement from the streaming platform giant, it is difficult to confirm which novel will be adapted for the fifth season.
Meanwhile, Jessie did not give out a lot about her role in the fifth season of Bridgerton, "I wish I could say that I have started working on (Eloise’s story). That would make me seem like such a professional as well if I were starting to work on it.” She then blew a raspberry, signifying that was all she had to say on the subject. As is known to fans of the franchise, the fifth book in the series chronicles Eloise's romance with Sir Phillip. Eloise initially considers Sir Phillip to be anything other than a perfect match for her, and yet she engages in a prolonged romance with him after he sends her a letter.
The sixth book, on the other hand, follows Francesa dealing with her grief following the tragic death of her husband John Stirling and develops a loving connection with John's cousin Michael. The show has already changed Michael's character to Michaela, in a nod to the budding queer romance between her and Francesa. The first part of 'Bridgerton' Season 4 drops exclusively on Netflix on January 29, followed by the second part, which will arrive on the streamer on February 26.
