Connor Storrie drops major ‘Heated Rivalry’ Season 2 filming update: ‘We're going to…’
'Heated Rivalry' star Connor Storrie had a major update for fans about season 2 of the hit HBO Max drama. The six-episode romance series, based on Rachel Reid's 2019 book of the same name, follows the love story between hockey rivals Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Storrie). The streamer renewed the series for a second season just after the fourth episode aired.
Storrie's update comes on the back of feverish anticipation about any news regarding the second instalment. Speaking on TODAY's morning show earlier, the actor said it would be a "heated summer" as the filming goes on floors. Speaking to Craig Melvin, "I think Jacob's still writing it," he said, referring to writer and director Jacob Tierney. "I think we're going to be filming, I don't know when, exactly." When Melvin asked if "soon" meant as early as this year's summer, "Yeah, I think about then," Storrie said.
Previously, Williams and Storrie also made their respective late-night debuts on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers." Speaking to Fallon, Williams had a brief tease of season 2. "There are some big baddies," he said. "If Season 1 is like an internal battle, Season 2 is more of an external battle." In the second book of Reid's 'Game Changers' series, Ilya and Shane's stories pick up from the events of the first, with the sequel titled 'The Long Game'. The book follows their individual pro hockey careers as they continue to keep their relationship under wraps.
The duo's comments come on the back of Tierney's take on season 2's potential release date. "It can’t be the same time next year, because this time last year I’d written five of these, and this time this year I’ve written zero of them," Tierney explained. "So it’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon," the writer told Variety.
"We understand that everybody’s goal is not to do two years between seasons," Tierney added. "And at the same time, I don’t want to put out a rushed, shitty second season just because the show is very popular. But we’re very aware that our creative partners are enthusiastic and don’t want to wait too long. We’re getting back to work!”
All episodes of 'Heated Rivalry' season 1 are streaming on HBO Max.
