'The Voice' Season 17 Knockouts sees Gwen Stefani steal Joana Martinez from Team Blake and fans stand by decision

Joana might be a 15-year-old but her voice is record-worthy, and even Kelly Clarkson shared that she can't wait to hear a record from her in the future
UPDATED OCT 30, 2019

Gwen Stefani might have been facing quite the backlash from fans ever since she became the coach on 'The Voice' Season 17, but now fans are thankful to her for stealing Joana Martinez from Blake Shelton's team during the Knockouts.

Fans felt Blake made a bad decision in letting Joana go, but now Gwen is the perfect coach for her, as she stands the chance of taking home the title this season.

'The Voice' Season 17 returned on Tuesday night as the Knockouts continued. We witnessed three battles take place tonight, and to be honest, all three were tough decisions for the coaches because they were impeccable performances.

Blake, however, had the toughest decision to make when it came to the Knockout battle between Joana and Ricky Duran.

Joana might be a 15-year-old but her voice is record-worthy, and even Kelly Clarkson shared that she can't wait to hear a record from her in the future.

Performing 'California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas, no one expected her to make that song choice. The only advice Taylor Swift had for her is to not repeat the same gestures and work on her stage presence.

Performing her rendition of the song, Joana aced it and her voice had the power it needed.

Ricky performed 'She Talks to Angels' by The Black Crows, and his raspy voice got the coaches hooked to his performance. When it came to making a decision, Blake chose Ricky as the winner of the Knockouts, and he's headed to the Live Play-Offs.

But luckily, Joana wasn't eliminated, as Gwen swooped in and used her one steal on her, grabbing Joana to her team. Taking to social media following the performance, fans shared how thankful they are for Gwen stealing Joana.

Many shared that she would make a perfect coach for her. They also shared their disappointment with Blake for not picking Joana as the winner of the Knockouts.

Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "WTF — I've disagreed with so many of the coaches' decisions but thank God Gwen stole her." Another fan said, "Gwen Stefani yes!!! Saving Johana was so, so cool. Gwen is the PERFECT coach for her! #TheVoice."

"I was about to boycott the rest of #TheVoice #TheVoice2019 until Gwen saved Joanna! Smart move! Very smart move!" shared a fan while another wrote, "So glad Gwen had some sense and didn’t let Joana leave!! #thevoice."

Some fans also speculated that Blake didn't choose Joana on purpose, because he knew Gwen wanted her. "The fact that people are wondering if Blake is trying to lose this season to give Gwen a better chance at winning is another reason why they should not be coaches together. #TheVoice," wrote a fan.

Another wrote, "#TheVoice — Seen it all tonight — Blake Shelton let the 15 yr old girl go in the knockouts so Gwen could steal her. She will definitely be one of the top 5 finalists. I’ve watched from day 1 and Blake knows a winner when he sees one. Sad he caters to her."

'The Voice' Season 17 airs every Monday and Tuesday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
