'The Unicorn' Season 2 Preview: What dating setbacks await Wade this year? CBS sitcom has no pandemic in its plot
The hit rom-com 'Bad Moms' taught us that there's something incredibly sexy about single fathers, especially widowers, and CBS' critically acclaimed comedy 'The Unicorn' continues to follow that mantra. A year ago, we were introduced to the regular middle-aged dad Wade's (Walton Goggins) unusual charm and luck with dating when the father of two teenage daughters re-enters the scene after the death of his wife. Wade is immediately labeled the 'it guy' - a suitable match for whoever finds out about his relationship status, provided theirs allows them to pursue him. But looks like Season 2 might find Wade with the good ole' razzle-dazzle of not finding luck in the dating scene. Or so hints the season premiere's synopsis.
Titled 'There's Something About Whoever-She-Was', the second season's premiere, Episode 1, picks up shortly after the events of the debut season's finale. And while there isn't really much of a pandemic life relevance drawn in Wade is still swirling in panic somehow. The official synopsis for the episode reveals "After Wade has an instant connection with a woman he met briefly in a parking lot, he's determined to find her again." All of this happens in the backdrop of Wade's friend Michelle waiting to hear from the colleges she applied to for her business degree, and Wade's daughter Natalie wanting to get her ears pierced, but of course, it's the dating life and its woes that has our curiosity piqued.
A little birdie tells us that Wade will be able to find this woman he's so smitten with after just a chance parking lot encounter, and her name will be Shannon. That little birdie happens to be the Season 1 finale, where actually the events of this season premiere's synopsis take place. When we meet Wade in Season 2, he is expected to have reconnected with Shannon, but that won't be the end of his search as dating Shannon might end up proving to be more than he bargained for venturing into a relationship all this time later. Based on the second episode's synopsis, Wade will go out with a woman called Shannon.
"When Wade goes on a date with Shannon (Natalie Zea), he learns quickly that he has to come to terms with her unusual living arrangements if he wants to keep seeing her," details the episodic synopsis. That Shannon is introduced and addressed as a romantic interest shortly after Wade is left smitten with a woman he meets in episode 1 leads us to believe that they are the same person, but knowing Wade, he might not have the best response to her needs. Whether Wade will manage to wade through the waters of this unforeseen dating life setback or whether he will give it up to everyone's despair all over again is left to be seen.
'The Unicorn' Season 2 premiers this Thursday, November 12, at 9:30 PM only on CBS.
