Legendary alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins are all set to release their eleventh studio album. It follows their previous studio album 'Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.' which was released in 2018. Titled 'Cyr', it is their second studio album (after 1995's album 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness') to be released as a double album. It's also their second album in the 'Shiny and Oh So Bright' series. The Smashing Pumpkins were set to embark on the 'Rock Invasion 2' tour soon after the recording for their 2018 album wrapped up but were forced to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to the band having to remotely work on the music video for the lead single 'Cyr'. The album was teased with a series of time counters on the band's website before the first single was released, and has had three singles so far, as well as a music video and an animated short series that is being released.
