The two had been good friends ever since they appeared in the musical 'Grease' together in 1978, but Travolta was not there at any of the high-profile memorial services for the late icon, neither did he send a video tribute nor show up in person. According to a recent story, the American actor may have remained absent because of disputes with Olivia's husband John Easterling.
An informant told Daily Mail, Travolta's intimate friendship with Olivia, which he frequently and publicly discussed, may not have pleased her husband. Easterling was rumored to be uncomfortable with Travolta's heartfelt tributes to Olivia on social media following her death.

The 69-year-old 'Grease' actor sent her a happy birthday message in memory of his former co-star and close friend. Having developed stage four breast cancer again in 2017, the actress died on August 8, 2022. People all across the world paid their respects to her in a flood of tributes following her death.
The 'Saturday Night Fever' actor shared a picture of himself and Olivia in their well-known 'Grease' (1978) roles as Danny and Sandy. "Happy birthday, Olivia," he wrote in the caption of the picture that he posted on his Instagram story. John had written a memorial for Olivia on his main Instagram profile shortly after her untimely demise.
The two actors first met while filming 'Grease' in 1978, and they remained close friends for 44 years, up until her death. When Newton-John would have turned 74 years old last year, Travolta paid her a special homage on his Instagram Stories. Travolta wrote, "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever. Your Danny, your John!" as per Daily Mail.
Travolta and Easterling's 'tense relationship'
According to a recent story, the American actor might have stayed away because of disputes with Olivia's husband, John Easterling. Easterling was believed to be dissatisfied with Travolta's heartfelt tributes to Olivia on social media following her death.
Newton-John and Easterling met in the middle of the 1990s; Easterling is the president and founder of the Amazon Herb Company. In June 2008, they had an Incan spiritual wedding in Peru, and nine days later, on Jupiter Island in Florida, they had a legal wedding.
