Olivia Newton-John's husband John Easterling recalls their first boat trip in touching birthday tribute
JUPITER, FLORIDA: Olivia Newton-John's husband John Easterling remembered the late actress on her birthday on Monday, September 26, in a sweet post recalling their first boat trip in the Bahamas. This came days after friends and family celebrated the 'Grease' actress at a memorial service.
On Monday, September 26, it would have been Newton-John 74th birthday. Easterling wished her happy birthday while sharing a beautiful memory of their first boat trip they took while celebrating Newton-John's first birthday as a couple early in their relationship.

"It was private, it was wonderful, and we would take the boat to uninhabited islands and beach it and just explore – just the two of us," Easterling wrote in the post. John posted a sweet picture of the duo along with the caption, "A birthday memory to @therealonj- swipe right to read: Happy Birthday Honey- I Love You! -Amazon John".
John recalled their Bahamas trip, which occurred on Newton-John's first birthday they celebrated together. Easterling recalled how they met with a storm on their boat as they headed back to their secluded island holiday house. "I remember the first birthday when we were together and I took Olivia on a week-long adventure in the Out Islands of the Bahamas surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful, spectacular turquoise," he said
The couple had rented a house on the isolated island. One day while on the boat the couple enountered a storm. "Olivia got behind me holding tight as I was navigating this 23-foot-runabout with a center consul. The only instrument was a magnetic compass," he wrote.
"I had a bearing on Elbow Cay but there was no visibility," recalled Easterling, who then began "wondering if the currents and the wind" led their boat away from the Bahamas and in the direction of Africa. "But, as quickly as the storm started, the winds died down, the rain stopped, the sun poked through and the seas turned back to that beautiful turquoise," he explained.
"As the mist cleared you could see the Hopetown Lighthouse on Elbow Cay and we were perfectly on course. The rainbow started on the left and crystallized all the way over the horizon to horizon and that's when the dolphins started jumping at the bow of the boat leading us under the rainbow," John explained the magical view.
"Oliva looked at me like I was a superhero and I knew it was mostly blind faith and dumb luck," he shared. "As the dolphins led us over the gorgeous aqua water, under the rainbow towards the lighthouse, we both recognized the fingerprints of the supernatural were all over this – and that's the way we lived our life."
"Every day with Olivia there was a hint of magic and [an] everyday day with Olivia was a bit of the supernatural. Happy Birthday Honey — I love you!" John concluded the post.
Newton-John passed away on August 8, 2022, after battling breast cancer for more than 30 years.
