Spoilers for 'The Protector' Season 4

Netflix's first Turkish original series, 'The Protector' came to a somewhat happy ending after Hakan Demir (Çağatay Ulusoy) defeated the Immortals, namely Faysal Erdem (Okan Yalabık) by the end of the fourth and final season. While we initially thought Hakan perished in his fight against the Immortals, an epilogue scene let us know that Hakan was back to his normal, shopkeeper life. Moreover, Hakan and Zeynep Erman (Hazar Ergüçlü) have ended up together.

It was a happy twist considering that for most of the final season, Hakan and Zeynep were on opposing sides. Zeynep had got sick from the virus in the third season and ended up having to take the vaccine. Unbeknownst to her, the vaccine was Immortal blood, most probably, from Faysal's blood. With Immortal blood coursing through her veins in the aftermath, Zeynep turned dark, even shooting her one-time lover, Burak (Taner Ölmez) in cold blood.

What followed was Zeynep getting darker and darker as she continued to prove her loyalty to the Immortals, especially Faysal, by betraying the Loyal Ones multiple times. This included betraying Hakan and taking the Immortals key from him while he was in the past as Harun trying to figure out how to defeat the Immortals. The one ray of hope came when Zeynep realized that no matter how dark she got she could not let Hakan die. This meant that when the talismanic shirt was losing its power — because the past was changed — and Faysal tried to kill Hakan, Zeynep stopped him and took Hakan to safety.

After Hakan goes back in time and changes the past where he killed almost all Immortals, the future was changed. Zeynep was leading the life she had before she met him and it was clear that though she did not know him in this timeline, she still felt a connection to him. After Faysal was defeated and Hakan ensured Istanbul was safe from the Immortals once and for all, he and Zeynep started to live their lives as they wanted.

Fans were happy Hakan and Zeynep ended up together, rejoicing that they were endgame as they had wished for. One fan tweeted, "I finished s4 and I’m like sooo happy that finally got the endgame that we deserved from the beginning! although we didn’t get enjoy seeing them as a couple so much but at least we got this endgame! I don’t know how to say goodbye to my babies." Another shared, "All together this season was all over the place. time travel was really unnecessary. I'm just happy that I got my #zeykan endgame."

A fan shared, "The teasing? the inner jokes? the kiss? the sexual innuendos?? BITCH I WAITED 4 WHOLE SEASONS FOR THIS #zeykan #theprotector." Another wrote, "THANK F***ING GOD FOR ZEYKAN #theprotector #zeykan." A viewer tweeted, "It was nice to see their scenes together, especially their first impressions and the scenes where Hakan told Zeynep how important and indispensable it was for him."

All seasons of 'The Protector are now streaming on Netflix.
