Spoilers for 'The Order' Season 2

Season 2 of the hit Netflix series 'The Order' is finally here and it's got some interesting developments. At the heart of the show is magic and the wolf hides that give the lead characters their werewolf powers.

In Season 2, one of those wolf hides is sidelined and that's a bit unfortunate, especially considering he got a whole lot of importance bestowed on him at the end of Season 1. Midnight has been a bit complicated throughout the series and in Season 2, he's still going back and forth between being the hero and a mindless killing machine.

Throughout Season 1, Midnight was nicknamed Cannon Fodder, mostly because he was always extremely eager to bond with a new host and leap claws first into danger. However, at the end of the season when Jack Morton (Jake Manley) needed a hide, he took on Midnight and gave a long speech about how Midnight was always the bravest of the Knights of Saint Christopher.

After all that talk, however, the second he gets his hands on his original hide Silverback, Jack chooses to let go of Midnight and take on Silverback again. And just like every rebound relationship ever, Jack never once regrets it, not even when Midnight is stolen by anarchist magicians called Praxis.

Plus, everything we hear about Midnight in Season 2 suggests he's back to being a murderous monster who only cares about blood and revenge, even going so far as to kill Alyssa Drake (Sarah Grey). And while he appeared to be tired of being Cannon Fodder and initially refused to bond with Jack in Season 1, he seems to be completely indiscriminate about who he bonds with now.

Considering how they built him up at the end of Season 1, we would have hoped the show would have kept him around for a while, maybe even given him an honorable way to go out. And yet, here we are, with Midnight being completely sidelined once again.

By the end of Season 2, Midnight finds yet another new host, the complicated Order magician Gabrielle Dupres (Louriza Tronco). Now, we'll just have to wait and see if that helps him become relevant again.

'The Order' Season 2 is currently available on Netflix.
