Two seasons of 'The Mandalorian' are actually hot property on Disney+ right now. Such was the massive success of the 'Star Wars' series that the powers that be greenlit more spin-off content in' Rangers of the New Republic', 'Ahsoka', 'Bad Batch' and 'Acolyte' to name a few. While these series are set to hit the streamer sometime in the fall of 2021, fans are now petitioning for the Seth Green-created 'Star Wars: Detour', an animated parody series that went unreleased since 2012.

The series has roughly two seasons' worth of content that has not been released for public viewing since Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012. This has led to a user named Skyler Gorsett to file a petition on change.org to release the comedy series that provides a hilarious account of what happened between the prequel and the original trilogy. At the time of writing, the petition has seen 1291/1500 signatures.

The petition, quite a detailed one, reads: "At the 2012 Star Wars Celebration, the animated, parody Star Wars series 'Star Wars Detours' was announced. 'Robot Chicken' co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich began working with Lucasfilm Animation to create the series and since have completed almost 40 episodes, with over 60 scripts ready to go. Unfortunately, after the purchase of the Star Wars franchise by the Walt Disney Company, the series has been set aside."

"Currently, the completed episodes and all assets are sitting in limbo, only ever having the trailer and a small handful of preview scenes released to the public. Disney has not released the series due to the series not fitting into their current plan as they release the final movie to the Skywalker storyline and begin expanding the universe with its upcoming shows The Mandalorian, The Clone Wars - The Lost Mision, and the Obi-Wan series."

"With the quickly coming arrival of the Disney+ streaming service, it could be a completely reasonable fit to have the Star Wars Detours series added. In a recent interview with Dave Trumbore from The Collider Seth Green, in reference to his creation, said, "I think there would have to be such a clear and vocal fan demand to make anybody want to shift their plan." The purpose of this petition is to offer that demand. Help us to show Disney that we DO want Seth Green's hard work to be revealed! Sign the petition and help expand the Star Wars franchise!"

Whether Walt Disney plans to release the content is a question only the folks over there can answer, but the shorts can make a fun addition to the part of the shows that are currently available for streaming on Disney+. With the content, all but ready, 'Detours' could be something for 'Star Wars' aficionados to chew on.
