Jenna Lyng Adams terms it 'intense' to act as an aspiring actor with a veteran mentor in ‘The Kominsky Method’ Season 2

In an exclusive interview with MEAWW, the ‘The Kominsky Method’ actor and producer Jenna Lyng Adams tells us that her character Darshani has been given more weight and scope in the second season.

Netflix’s original comedy series ‘The Kominsky Method’ follows the journey of Sandy Kominsky (Michael Douglas), an aging acting coach, who had a brief moment of acting success but is all set to get it right for aspiring actors. Actor and producer Jenna Lyng Adams, plays the role of Darshani, a student in Kominsky’s acting class. In a candid conversation with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), she shared her journey of landing the role and how her character has evolved.

Adams is thrilled that her character of Darshani has been given more weight and scope in the second season and that she is ‘grateful for it.' But the most interesting thing that we learned from and about the actor is that she is also a filmmaker and it was quite an experience to act out her script, which, she says, is ‘hilarious’.

However, at the same time, it was quite a challenging experience for Adams. She had never done so much comedy earlier but with creators like Chuck Lorre and actors like Douglas and Larkin to look up to, she eventually enjoyed the entire experience.

Have you ever wondered how it would be for an actor to act as an aspiring actor under the mentorship of a veteran? As we pose the question to Adams, she says, “It was an intense learning experience. Between takes or at rehearsals, I would get pointers from Michael and the others. It was like a dream scenario.”

Playing the role of a student, she started to live the classroom experience with other students, where everyone supports each other. Adams even recalls a monologue she had to deliver as a part of her role in front of her classmates. She also relates the plot of ‘The Kominsky Method’ with real-life situations, some of which she has experienced as an acting student. Sandy Kominsky’s method is about exposing students to the ugly experiences of learning, breaking up, only to build them up again. She recalls one of Alan Larkin’s scenes from Season 1 where he says that ‘Being human is being in pain.’ And that pretty much sums up Mr. Kominsky’s method of teaching. As our conversation moves onto Adams’ role in Season 2, she reveals how two big plot lines will be running parallel going forward.

On a parting note, Jenna Lyng Adams shared her projects in the pipeline and how she has been involved extensively in music videos, commercials, writing and creating shows. In other words, the actor, writer, and producer, has all her fingers in the pie and she is living every moment of her career.
If you want to know all about Darshani and if she can live up to Sandy Kominsky’s method, then get hooked onto ‘The Kominsky Method’ Season 1 and 2, currently streaming on Netflix.
