'The Good Fight', a legal drama on CBS All Access, was cut unexpectedly short for its fourth season, due to a halt in production brought about by the coronavirus lockdown. However, with that announcement came the good news that the show has already been renewed for a fifth season, allowing it to extend the story it began telling in Season 4.

Release Date

There is no release date yet announced for the fifth season of 'The Good Fight.'

Plot

After their parent company STR Laurie forced Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart to layoff 20% of their employees, the partners attempted to buy their share back and regain control. However, a minor technicality in their contract means that they could not do that -- not without raising at least $80 million, leaving the firm more helplessly under the thumb of STR Laurie than ever. In the meanwhile, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) is still attempting to expose Memo 618 -- and Julius Cain (Michael Boatman) may have just gotten caught in the crossfire -- something that will likely be explored in Season 5.

Cast

The season's regulars are expected to return for Season 5, meaning the cast more or less remains intact.

Christine Baranski

Christine Baranski plays Diane Lockhart, carrying her character over from 'The Good Fight.' After she lost most of her retirement fund in a ponzi scheme, she was forced to return to work. She's become a name partner in the recently renamed, and largely African-American firm of Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart, and is on the hunt to expose and take down the mysterious Memo 618. Baranksi is also known for her roles in 'The Big Bang Theory,' 'Mamma Mia,' and of course, 'The Good Fight.'

Cush Jumbo

Cush Jumbo plays Lucca Quinn, also coming in from 'The Good Wife,' a lawyer at Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart who has recently been made head of divorce law. She has also recently given birth to a son, Joseph, fathered by her ex-boyfriend Colin Morello (Justin Bartha). She's also been developing a close relationship with the wealthy Bianca Skye (Chasten Harmon). Jumbo is also known for her roles in 'Deadwater Fell,' 'Vera,' and 'Lip Service.'

Delroy Lindo

Delroy Lindo plays Adrian Boseman, an opportunistic name partner at Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart. In Season 5, he will be taking a big step forward in his career -- running for the President of the United States. Lindo is known for his roles in 'Blood & Oil,' 'Believe,' and 'The Chicago Code.'

Trailer

There is no trailer yet for 'The Good Fight' Season 5. We will update this article when it's released.

News

The announcement for 'The Good Fight' Season 5 was made before the fourth season ended, on May 14, by Deadline. “While we all had hoped to provide audiences with a 10-episode fourth season, we, among many others, have had to adapt due to the pandemic," said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, at CBS All Access. "Although it’s a shortened season, the incredible cast and crew, helmed by the incomparable Robert and Michelle King, have produced a phenomenal seven episodes. We can’t wait for viewers to see the remainder of the season and are excited to bring subscribers even more of the timely, gripping storylines the Kings bring to life next in season five.”
