'The Flash' season 6: Tough times ahead for Team Flash as they fight personal battles and prepare for the 'Crisis'

It looks like Team Flash will somehow have to swallow their grief and push through. However, will they make the distance?  Only time will tell
PUBLISHED OCT 2, 2019

It has been a tough time for Team Flash and season 6 is ensuring that the tumult isn't going away anytime soon. Barry Allen and Iris West (Grant Gustin and Candice Patton) have been the worst hit, after their daughter, Nora West-Allen was erased from existence right in front of them in the finale of season 5.  And, then there's the 'Crisis' to deal with. The season opener 'Into the Void' will see an appearance from the Monitor (La Monica Garrett) who has been the bearer of bad news. He first shows up in 'Arrow' saying Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) has to die, and now he'll be saying the same to Barry.

Adding to this one-two punch combo will be the new villains showing up to potentially destroy Central City, and we aren't just referring to Bloodwork and Godspeed. While this may not essentially be the last season, the series is sure to focus on each character's arc to give them a way forward post-Crisis.

In an interview with EW, Wallace emphasized just how much of a direct impact the five-hour crossover event will have with 'The Flash'. "We found really unique ways to make the season fresh that we never expected, thanks to 'Crisis,'" Wallace revealed. "This season is really divided up in a way that the episodes before the crossover are pre-‘Crisis’ episodes. Then the back half of the season is all about dealing with the fallout from the events of 'Crisis.'" This means each episode of the series. essentially will have 'Crisis' as one of its talking points.

Caitlin Snow aka Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) will play a key role in the season and this was hinted at by Wallace earlier. While Caitlin has been looking after both the personas in the previous two seasons, this may change in the upcoming season. For Hartley Sawyer's Ralph Dibny, there might be a love interest and a secret mission that has a James Bond reference to it— 'License to Elongate'. The West family will have their own story coming up with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile Horton's (Danielle Nicolet) child, Jenna West. While their characters may not have necessarily seen a lot of action, they have been an integral part of the team and there is a definite impact of sorts.

Then there's Carlos Valdes' Cisco Ramon. He's taken the metahuman cure and his vibing abilities have disappeared. This season will most likely see him grappling with that decision. While he's been a valuable asset to the team even before he became Vibe, he was able to get in on the action by using his abilities. Now, it might sound like a desk job and with tougher metas popping up, Vibe will be surely and sorely missed.

It looks like Team Flash will somehow have to swallow their grief and push through. However, will they go the distance? Only time will tell.

'The Flash' season 6 premieres Tuesday, October 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
