The world is in the grip of a relentless pandemic and most of us are in lockdown. Apart from binge-watching shows, there isn't much to do to entertain yourself. And so, you can always leave it to 'The Curse Of Oak Island' on History Channel to bring you the weekly dose of entertainment and thrills.

We are close to the finale of the show's Season 7 and the mysteries are getting more complex and intriguing with each episode. Are we getting some answers? Well, yes and no.

In the latest episode titled 'Turning Point', we are back to the ever-reliable swamp, where the team investigates the mysterious formation of boulders around it that has no vegetation growing in it.

As we know (and have been reminded in practically every episode), this swamp "might" have a connection to the Knights Templar and the Freemasons. The curiosity hits dizzying levels when the team believes that they've hit upon mercury and lead in the swamp.

There's a little history lesson behind this: English philosopher and scientist Francis Bacon in 'Nova Organa' had detailed methods of preserving documents by placing them in sealed containers, filled with mercury.

He was also believed to be the leader of Rosicrucians — a secret society of intellectuals who are thought to have buried treasure on the island. Could the team have hit upon hard evidence that supports this theory?

There is more speculation around the swamp as their team archaeologist is sure that this was a clay mine due to the presence of pure clay around the site. Excitement follows these discussions and the team raises a toast to the swamp in the pub.

The episode ends on an interesting note, as they find hints of an anomaly (yes that word again) — of a wall structure near the Ball foundation. Could Samuel Ball, the man who lived on Oak Island, have hidden something there?

Well, it will take a while to get the answer to that question, because the team requires a permit. However, they're a permit away from solving the Oak Island mystery.

Cheers to the determination of the team, as they cheerfully say at the end of the episode, "It's all coming together!" Is it though? Is it really?

'The Curse Of Oak Island' airs on History Channel on Tuesdays at 9 pm.
