The channel, as part of its programming event ‘Miracles of Christmas,’ is all set to premiere ‘The Christmas Doctor’. Here are the details you need to know about the movie before it airs this weekend

Plot

According to the press release, the film focuses on Zoey. She is a traveling doctor who prefers short assignments to staying put. Two weeks before Christmas she is assigned to a small-town clinic upstate while the town’s only doctor recovers from surgery. Once she arrives, she is greeted by the town’s intriguing residents, as well as the handsome software engineer Luke. As the holidays draw near, Zoey can’t help but be charmed by this town and its people and is surprised when she starts to feel at home. Does this mean she’ll stay back? Just wait for a few days to know the answer.

Holly Robinson Peete and Adrian Holmes are the leads of the movie. Peete has been part of the Fox TV police drama ‘21 Jump Street’, ABC sitcom ‘Hangin' with Mr. Cooper’, and the NBC/WB sitcom ‘For Your Love’. She was also part of projects like ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘Mike & Molly’.

Holmes is known for his role in films like 'Elysium', ‘A Christmas Horror Story’ and ' Red Riding Hood'. He was also part of Netflix's ‘V Wars’, a horror science-fiction show and the hit Amazon Prime Video show ‘The Boys’.  The rest of the cast includes Fred Henderson, Bronwen Smith, Nicole Anthony, Marlie Collins, Rhinnan Payne, Colleen Winton, Chris Wood, Mike Wasko and Alexander Jones, among others.

Creators

‘The Christmas Doctor’ is produced by Help Road Productions Ltd. Charles Cooper serves as producer. The executive producers are Orly Adelson, Danielle Jackson, Holly Robinson Peete, Allen Lewis, Al Roker and Michael Shepard. It is directed by Kevin Fair and the script is by Neal Dobrofsky and Tippi Dobrofsky.

Trailer

The short preview of the movie on the channel’s website introduces us to the protagonists and a few of the supporting cast. From the preview, it seems like Peete’s character is caring about her patients, but there are some feelings that she is trying to suppress. It does come across as a feel-good holiday movie.  And the clip also hints at the budding romance between Peete’s and Holmes’ characters.
