'The Boys' Season 4: Antony Starr teases why having family won't change Homelander's psychopathic nature
Season 3 of ‘The Boys’ has taken everyone by storm and fans can’t stop raving about it. The third edition of the Amazon Prime Video series ended with Noir getting killed by Homelander (Antony Starr) after the latter felt betrayed by his most-trusted supe. The Butcher was inching toward his death from the effects of Temp V while Queen Maeve lost her eye and her powers while being in a fight with Soldier Boy. On the other hand, Starlight has finally become a member of The Boys and they are set to take on Victoria Neuman.
However, one of the most heart-touching moments of the finale arrived when Homelander met his father Soldier Boy before engaging in a fight. Homelander was emotional and even brought his son Ryan with him. He told his son that Soldier Boy is his grandfather, but Soldier Boy didn’t get sentimental after that and just wanted to fight. Homelander’s reaction made us realize that he certainly has some emotions left in him. However, everything changed when he brutally murdered a person in front of his son Ryan, who doesn’t take him as a hero as the season comes to an end.

So, like always, the arrogant psychopath did come out, and this time in front of the public. This leaves us with a lot of questions about the character’s future, but it seems Antony Starr has an idea of where he would like to see his character in the upcoming season. In a recent interview, Starr revealed that Homelander would love to have a family in the upcoming episodes, but made it clear that having a family might not stop him from being a psychopathic killer.
While talking about his character’s future, Starr told Screen Rant, “I think the character's end game is in direct odds and direct opposition with reality. I think he would love to have a family. And I think it's all dressed up in fantasy. It's all wrapped up in fantasy, everything that he really wants.”
The actor also revealed that getting everything he wants will not fulfill his ego and he would want more from life. So, having everything or having a family won’t stop him from being a psychopath and there’s no redemption for Homelander because he has gone so far into the darkness that there’s no way he can be pulled out of it.
“And I think if he ever got what he wanted, he wouldn't know how to stop. I think he needs to be pushing against something to have any sort of identity and he really doesn't have much of an identity. So, God help the world if he gets what he wants,” Starr said.

It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the character because the madness has just begun and he’ll do anything to show his dominance over other people. The final shot where he kills a person who doesn’t like him shows how people think about him.
However, there’s another reality to it and that is much darker. The entire crowd cheered for Homelander when he killed that person, which means Homelander can now do anything and people will support him. This is really dangerous and puts everyone at risk. If Season 3 was chaos, then Season 4 might be carnage. Let’s wait and see.
Season 3 of 'The Boys' is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
