'The Boys' Season 2 Episode 5 begins with Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Stormfront (Aya Cash) shooting for a supe film. Queen Maeve confesses that she is lesbian, Stormfront and Starlight say "Girls can get it done", while A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) is expected to announce his retirement from the Seven on this film too. This film is what Vought uses to make the public believe in the lies that Vought is built on and get people to blindly believe in every lie that they are spinning. It is at this time that Homelander (Antony Starr) gets the shock of his life when a video of him killing an innocent bystander while he takes on a supe terrorist goes viral.

The public is mad that Homelander is treating this incident so lightly, that he doesn't respond to the anger amid people and claims of him being a war criminal are rife. All of this, Homelander is told, has resulted in his points going down -- not by one or two, but 9.5. As Stormfront's popularity increases, so do her points. However, Homelander sees his downfall in her victory, and initially, he had set out against her. She was trying to take his place among the Seven, how dare she? This was what he had thought, but to see a day come where he was being told by the public that he was not a hero, not someone to be loved, Homelander, a known narcissist, has a breakdown.

Stormfront had always told him that she is available any time to help him in whatever way he can. He cashes in on this and gets her to work on redefining his image after the incident of accidentally killing an innocent bystander. The public believes that this is the first such crime, but the fact that the supes have been killing hundreds of innocent bystanders is something that the CIA and The Boys are aware of. So it isn't hard to convince the public that this is not what it seems to be and Stormfront uses her IT cell to spread a theory about allegations against Homelander being fake. It is scary how well the two of them get along, as soon as they have found a common goal; and that is probably the point that the show is trying to make. Racist people and narcissists would make the best of friends. We know real-life examples, don't we?

It is also clear that Stormfront has a grand plan in mind, which Mr. Edgar possibly supports. When Starlight sneaks into Stormfront's trailer to find clues about her being Liberty, she gets caught, and so, to divert Stormfront's attention, she confronts Stormfront about trying to broker peace between Starlight and her mother. Starlight has been estranged from her mother over keeping Compound V a secret from her among other things, so she tries to tell Stormfront to not interfere. However, she is instead put in place when Stormfront figures out that it was indeed Starlight who had leaked information regarding Compound V to the press.

In return, Starlight tells Stormfront that she will out her to the public and let them know about her being the same person as racist Liberty who had disappeared years ago. While it is a stalemate between the two of them for now, we wonder if Starlight can figure out Stormfront's secret?

In the meantime, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) has found a way to broker a deal between Vought's Edgar and The Boys. After Black Noir finds Butcher, MM aka Mother's Milk (Jessie T. Usher), and Hughie (Jack Quaid) hidden at Butcher's aunt's place, we see the three of them hold the fort and even attempt to trap and kill Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). However, this doesn't work. Instead, Butcher tries to take on Black Noir by himself. When Hughie and MM interfere and are at risk, that's when Billy pulls a card that no one knew he was hiding. He uses Becca (Shantel VanSanten) and her son Ryan as a bargaining chip to get Vought off of The Boys' back -- at least for now.

So now, we are back to seeing The Boys go against Seven, now led by Homelander and Stormfront.

'The Boys' Season 2 new episodes will release on Fridays and can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
