The truth is out and it is official: Elizabeth Keen is a blacklist. And while one would think this would be of utmost thrill and joy of Raymond Red Reddington, he claims he never really had a plan. Fans however believe Red had always been training Liz to do more than just her job at the FBI. If you ask Dembe's character from the series, he will tell you all of this comes from the dark place where Red lives. So what is the truth?

The episode eponymously titled 'Elizabeth Keen' sees the character sink into the impossible depths of low cruelty as she tries to seek vengeance upon the one man she trusted enough to be her friend, and mentor – Red. After witnessing Red kill her mother, as Dembe puts it, Liz plummets to a place so dark and uncertain that it's difficult for her to ever return to her old life. And look at her now, running around town like a fugitive - scratch that, she is an actual fugitive targeting Red, and meanwhile Aram has to babysit her daughter, to protect little Agnes from the monster her mother's almost before. History repeats itself and one can't help but wonder if Liz was Agnes's age when everybody decided no more Katarina Rostova, the wretched mother in her life?

Without digressing, Red's answer to Dembe's question is kind of curious. When Dembe tells Red that he must have had a plan all along to make Elizabeth watch him kill her mother, Red claims he never really had a plan. It all just happened. But fans are not quite certain about this. Red has always been known to think beyond the current predicament. He had far better hopes and dreams for Liz beyond the FBI.

Taking it to Twitter, a fan wrote: "I think all this time Red has been training Liz to become a Russian spy. Have everyone turn on her and have the US hunt her. He will tell her the truth and maybe they'll connect again. Season 9 will be everyone hunting them both?????" Another remarked: "It took 7 years and Liz became Reddington! Maybe that was Red’s intention all along yet seems he might underestimated the consequences... he created the most dangerous foe ever and he will be the one in the crossfire."

The same viewer also added that "guessing here, but catastrophic like she turned her back to the FBI, to his friends and basically became Reddington. She outsmarted him, again. She used people to get what she wanted, even she cares about them, just like Red does many times. She became a mortal enemy." They also noted how the inception was it all - Red shooting Katarina - was a brilliantly laid plan. "Liz’s emotions changed towards Red forever in that second when she saw him shooting Katarina. And it's a chain reaction, maybe that what they meant. But probably was a bit melodramatic." Well, all's well that ends chaotically, and in this case, no matter what Red says, mission accomplished!

'The Blacklist' Season 8 airs on Fridays at 8 pm only on NBC.
