As much as we love watching ‘The Biggest Loser’, we hate saying goodbye to the contestants on the show. Each week the contestant who loses the least amount of weight from the losing team is sent packing, leaving us teary-eyed.

Although it was just the first week, it was still time to say goodbye and this week it was 31-year-old Robert Richardson II’s turn. Robert was placed in the blue team under Steve Cook. This 31-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, also happens to be the heaviest person this season. Robert came on the show with a whopping 409 pounds and by the end of the first week managed to shed an impressive 13 pounds and unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep this big boy in the race.

Robert came on the show with the hopes of getting healthier for his son. He followed his NFL player father’s footsteps and dreamt of playing for the NFL. Unfortunately, his injuries kept him from realizing his dream and these injuries were caused in part due to his weight. So, he turned to ‘The Biggest Loser’ in the hopes of getting healthy for his son and hopefully make it to the NFL.

Right from the get-go, it was very clear that Robert is a born leader. He took it upon himself to help his teammates by cheering and pushing them to give their best. In fact, he did very well even in the team challenge of running a mile, yet he had to go home, because his team lost during the final weighing, despite having a 6-pound advantage from winning the team challenge. Since Robert shed the least percentage of body fat in his team it was time for him to leave.

Fans were sad to see him go. A fan tweeted, “I had Robert winning I'm sad now #TheBiggestLoser.” Another fan shared, “BIG ROBERT!! NOOOOOOOO #thebiggestloser.” “He lost 13 and he’s going home. This is crazy.  #thebiggestloser,” expressed a shocked fan. Robert’s trainer Steve Cook too tweeted his unhappiness with, “Really wish he didn’t leave the first week! What a strong leader. 😭 hope he kills it at the finale.”

Robert may have left the show, but from what we saw on the show, we don’t think he will be giving up on his quest to get healthy any time soon. In the montage, they showed at the end of the episode to give the viewers an update about his progress since leaving the show, we see a visibly fit-looking Robert putting in the work to stay healthy. We see him working out and eating healthy while showing off his inspiration- his little son. We hope Robert continues his fitness and wellness journey.

You can catch new episodes of the reboot version of ‘The Biggest Loser’ every Tuesday, at 9/8 c only on USA Network.
