'The Bachelorette': Is show promoting violence? Fans say 'shame on producers' as men wrestle to impress Tayshia

'The Bachelorette' has returned with a host of games and group dates that will help new bachelorette Tayshia Adams zero in on the man of her dreams. It began with a series of tests, including a math exam (yes you read that right!), to determine how sharp the men are, followed by a breakfast-in-bed in challenge, which everyone aced, especially Bennett. After winning Tayshia's attention and a plaque of appreciation, Bennett was grinning ear to ear soaking in the good vibes, but Chasen was not convinced that he deserved to win. For him, it was "classless" of Bennett to serve breakfast to the lady in a robe. But Tayshia thought of it as "boujee".

But this was not the end of the story. The men went on to take part in a physically demanding competition i.e. wrestling. It involved a lot of testosterone, so much so that the boys were ready to go at each other to win it for Tayshia. In the process, some even jumped the fence to pick fights, showing an ominous sign. Although Tayshia thought it would be a good session to ease the tension, the men didn't really stick to just smack talking. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that the men have gotten carried away to come out on top and win dates and roses from Tayshia. In the previous week's episode, Riley made Spencer bleed during a game of pool basketball.

Clearly, blood and aggression aren't new to the format of the show and that has fans worried. Some have hinted that the showrunners need to drop such competitions/dates as they really put the suitors in danger. "I’ve never gone on a date that involves violence? Why does this show like to use these as dates?" a fan asked on a comment thread on the show's Facebook page, while another commented: "Why would you make them fight in a cage you asking for trouble an it is no worse than Clare having them get naked stop putting them in danger or shamming themselves FFS."

"Shame on producers once again. I do not like this type Of date. It’s unnecessary. Somebody’s going to get hurt. There’s just zero point in it way too much testosterone already," a user pointed out. "I’m really tired of competitions every year and someone getting hurt, every year. You need new directors and producers....wow, it’s getting so boring," another posted. "How can a person compete with others for a girl/guy. Other then to watch for my own entertainment I cam never be that pathetic to fight for another person's attention. But then again this is all scripted," a fan expressed. "I absolutely HATE that they do physical challenges on this show cuz someone always gets hurt and they fight and it’s just stupid," a viewer posted on another thread.
