WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND: In the latest episode of 'The Bachelorette' Season 21, Grant Ellis went on a one-on-one outing with Jenn Tran. During Grant's date, Jenn seemed to be in a much better mood compared to the night before, thanks to the uplifting support from the other men.

They had planned to go horseback riding to a picnic, but the weather turned rainy. Instead of letting it ruin their plans, they embraced the unexpected turn of events, sharing an umbrella and continuing to enjoy their time together with champagne in hand.

Grant made it clear that he fully accepts Jenn, and wants her to feel better than she did the night before. His efforts were rewarded with a sweet kiss from Jenn.

As they sat down for dinner, Grant opened up to Jenn on a deeply personal level, sharing his struggles with his father's addiction. He explained how the addiction had caused a lot of distrust between them, but he was hopeful for a fresh start now that his father had entered rehab.

Inspired by Grant's vulnerability, Jenn also shared her own struggles with her father and how it had affected her past relationships negatively. Despite the emotional conversation, Grant received the rose for the evening.

However, despite the budding connection between Grant and Jenn, some fans of the show expressed doubts about the chemistry between them.

An X user said, "I’m gonna be real. Grant is awesome but I don’t see the chemistry."

Another user added, "Outside of the trauma bonding I am not seeing nor feeling any sparks between Jenn and Grant."

A third user went on to say, "Grant seems nice but I'm not feeling it between them."

Followed by a user who penned, "Blah blah blah, proper name, place name, backstory stuff."

One user quipped, "Grant still has a lot of healing to do."

'The Bachelorette' Season 21 contestant Grant Ellis opens up on his father's addiction

Grant Ellis started the conversation on their date by discussing his father's 30-year battle with addiction.

“Growing up, my pop was everything. And he always used to be inebriated… The worst thing is, I didn’t know.  When you’re a child, you believe everything. And the one person I trusted most was, like, always lying. So that was something," he further added.

Grant's father was fired from his job just before Grant left to be on 'The Bachelorette'.

“He was blaming everybody. I was like, ‘Listen, Dad. I don’t f***ing care.’ This was like the proudest I’ve ever been of my dad: The next day, he called me and was like, ‘I’m checking into rehab,’” Grant recalled.

Grant's dad has been sober for two months now and Grant has been working on rebuilding their relationship. Jenn admired Grant for sticking by his dad during his battle with addiction, saying it shows his character.

'The Bachelorette' star also understood the struggle of having a absent male role model, as her own father left her. She admitted to seeking love in unhealthy relationships, including one where her ex  dismissed important issues like racism and sexism, leaving her feeling powerless.
