Why did Austin Ott quit 'The Bachelorette'? Fans point finger of blame in one direction
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: Following last week's cliffhanger, Jenn Tran's 'The Bachelorette' season saw her make a choice regarding her ex, Matt Rossi, who went to Auckland to win her back. While the optimistic suitor was not greeted warmly by the rest of Jenn's guys on the August 5 episode, a clarifying talk with Jenn convinced him that it was time to drop out.
"The journey she's been on has changed her, and I have to respect that," he admitted in a confessional. While the drama ended fast in the episode, there were still more surprises to come, including a stunning self-elimination.
The next day was a farm-themed group date, with Jenn's guys shoveling manure and caring for sheep. Devin Strader drew Jenn to the side, much to the disgust of the other guys, especially Austin Ott, who expressed his worries to Jenn later on.
“You have some amazing guys here that are ready to give you absolutely everything that you deserve,” he stated. “And with the way that things have gone for me in this journey, I don’t think that I can do that.”
Jenn was alarmed by his self-elimination and wondered whether the other men felt the same way. They reassured her, nonetheless, that they were dedicated.
Fans blamed Jenn soon after Austin's elimination as they wrote on X, "'I felt like I wasn’t enough for Austin' You never gave him the time of day?????" Another quipped, "Jenn never gave Austin a one-on-one or a group date Jenn after Austin left: I feel like I wasn’t enough for Austin."

One viewer argued, "Let me get this straight. Austin leaves 'cause Jenn has given him zero validation and is clearly not into him. But she takes this personally? Does she want guys to pine after her even if she doesn't like them?" A fourth user added, "Doesn’t Jenn realize that Austin felt he wasn’t worthy enough? She didn’t even pick him for a one on one. She’s questioning her self worth and that wasn’t even the issue."
