It looks like it might be a Merry Christmas for scream rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine after all. After previous reports emerged that the rapper might be facing up to 37 years in prison for federal charges that include gun racketeering, violent crimes and firearm offenses connected to his affiliation with the New York-based Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, fresh reports have emerged online, stating that he could be freed by December 18, 2019.

Rapper Tekashi69, real name Daniel Hernandez, aka 6ix9ine, has been serving time in prison since November 2018, when he was arrested for charges related to murder, robbery, and narcotics trafficking. Hernandez was "complicit and active in helping the gang accomplish its mission of maintaining power and intimidating rivals," according to court records.

In addition to facing federal prison time, this arrest was also complicated by the fact that 6ix9ine is currently serving probation for a 2015 sex crime case involving a child, as well as for a disorderly conduct charge in May 2018. The penalty for violating his probation is four years of prison time.

The young rainbow-haired rapper, who broke into the mainstream via the online music platform SoundCloud, is hoping for a reduced sentence after informing on his former gang members to help out prosecutors, but the price he had to pay for snitching included getting kidnapped by gang members, discovering that the mother of his child was romantically involved with one of his co-defendants and that they were stealing thousands of dollars from him.

New York attorney Moe Gangat, who has been closely monitoring the legal case, took to Instagram to suggest that the controversial rapper could be out of federal prison by Wednesday (December 18). “Look for Tekashi to get out this Wednesday, December 18, with a sentence of time served,” he said. “When it’s all said and done, he’s likely to have served just under one year in federal prison. The way federal sentencing works is the government tells the judge what sentence the person should get. Here, the government hasn’t asked for any sentence. When the government doesn’t ask for a sentence, what they’re saying is time served, no sentence.”

If Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer does go ahead with this ruling as predicted, 6ix9ine will be free to immediately leave the court. It's been reported that after signing a record deal while still in prison, he could be plotting a musical comeback. A docu-series based on his legal issues is also being produced by 50 Cent. But let's see how this story plays out before pronouncing him a free man.
