Tekashi 6ix9ine took to his Instagram on August 16 to boast about his wealth but Los Angeles residents were not too happy with what he had to say.

Along with the caption, "Don’t even bother," Tekashi shared a video where he is seen in his pool with his hand in a cast, overlooking the surrounding scenery. Announcing he is "out here in Los Angeles," Tekashi, says, "It's so beautiful, like, they love me here, you know what I'm saying? Look at my city. Take a look at my city."

Seemingly laughing with his bodyguard, he continued, "That's my city right there. Yo, I remember they said I couldn't come out here, Murphy. These people love me." His video concluded with, "Oh, and by the way, if you trying to post the video and screenshot by the time I uploaded this, I'm already gone." One responded to this and said, "I thought New York was your City you switching sides wait till you get back out I'm a pray that you don't talk like that no more."

Users on Instagram weren't too pleased with Tekashi's post, saying, "You don’t have a city" and "Bruh got kicked out of New York so now he think he can own la." Others found Tekashi humourous. "How can you hate him?? He makes me crack up everytime," said one user while another wrote, "Mans a better comedian than rapper."

Previously notorious for being a troll on social media, Tekashi vowed in April that he would be at his best behavior when posting online. According to TMZ, the rapper has had the feds keep him on watch during his probation of five years.

On August 2, Tekashi sparked controversy yet again when he shared another post on Instagram Live. In the video, Tekashi repeatedly bashed rappers who have been killed by gun violence which fans believed were insensitive remarks about late rappers such as XXXTentacion, Nipsey Hussle and Pop Smoke.

Then on August 14, the rapper was seen on the streets of Los Angeles tossing thousands of dollars into the air. According to The Blast, Tekashi was out shopping before deciding to "give back" to the city. He captioned the video, "I LOVE GIVING BACK TO THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES L.A I LOVE YOU." His actions also drew criticism from several fans, saying he threw money in one of the wealthiest areas of Los Angeles. One fan said, "Giving back? In Beverly Hills?" Another wrote, "I’d be impressed if you threw money to the people who needed it tho not in front of these high-end stores."
