Taylor Hawkins death: Celebrities mourn death of Foo Fighters drummer at 50

After sudden and shocking death of iconic Foo Fighters drummer, celebs take to social media to mourn his loss, here's how some are remembering Hawkins

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sadly died on March 25, 2022, the band confirmed via social media. The iconic drummer was in Bogota, Colombia along with the band when he passed away at the age of 50, just two days before they were to perform at Lollapalooza Brazil. Hawkins is now being mourned by millions of fans worldwide, as social media becomes flooded with condolence messages for the band, and his family.

Hawkins now joins a growing list of celebrities to whom the world has bid farewell, just three months into the new year. On February 22, it was announced that Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan had died at 57. In January, Los Angeles residents also bid farewell to the iconic Marty Roberts, a regular fixture at the Dresden Lounge in the city for over 30 years. In January, singer and actor Meat Loaf died at 74, after years of health woes.

Right now, it's not just regular social media users mourning Hawkins, but major celebrities and bands as well. The entire world seems united in mourning the loss of the iconic drummer, who in 2005 was voted as the 'Best Rock Drummer' by UK-based Rhythm Magazine. Here's a quick look at what celebrities are saying in reaction to the death of Hawkins.

'The world was so lucky'

"In utter disbelief at the news of Taylor Hawkins. Our deepest condolences to his family, his bandmates, his team, his friends and everyone that was ever touched by the music he created with @foofighters @Alanis and so many others. This is so incredibly sad," tweeted band Nickelback. Drummer Christian Coma said, "Omg…so bummed about the passing of Taylor Hawkins. Was the nicest guy when I met him, and he was such an influential drummer. My heart goes out to his family, the Foo Fighters, and everyone affected by the loss of a legend. Musician Tom Morello also weighed in, tweeting, "God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power. Rest In Peace my friend."



 



 



 

Mike Portnoy also mourned Hawlin's death, tweeting, "In absolute shock & disbelief over the the passing of Taylor Hawkins. I’ve always had so much admiration for him. Amazing drummer & a gem of a guy who was always fun to be around. I’m absolutely gutted…my deepest condolences to his bandmates & family." Far-right American activist Jack Posobiec commented, "Taylor Hawkins gone at 50 You never know how much time you get." Finneas O'Connell tweeted, "So heartbroken to hear about Taylor Hawkins’ passing, what an incredible talent, who didn’t also need to be so kind and generous and cool but was all those things too anyway. The world was so lucky to have his gifts for the time that it did, Rest In Peace."



 



 



 

Kiss frontman Paul Stanley also mounted Hawkins' death, tweeting, "Speechless and Gutted. Taylor was a great guy, a dad and a husband. My heart goes out to them, Dave and the band. What awful news." Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill said, "Rest In Peace Taylor Hawkins. Such a great person gone way too soon." Surpeme Court lawyer Neal Katyal also mourned Hawkins, tweeting, "Ugh how sad. RIP Taylor. You were an amazing light."
