Tanya Tucker, Brandi Carlile, Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth have penned their way to the top of the heap of America's favorite music genre, with their country song 'Bring My Flowers Now' claiming the award for Best Country Song at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony.

Telecast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker also performed a memorable duet of the song on the night.

The lyrics “We all think we've got the time until we don't" seemed particularly poignant given that NBA superstar Kobe Bryant had just passed away in a helicopter crash, and the audience needed something life-affirming to dwell on.

The lines "Bring my flowers now, while I'm livin' / I won’t need your love when I’m gone," also seemed perfectly suited to the somber-yet-joyous mood of the night.

Like in the case of the prestigious Song of the Year award category, the Grammy for Best Country Song is usually given to the songwriters of the track, and not exclusively to the performer of the piece itself — that is, unless the performing artiste themselves are also credited as the songwriter, which usually tends to be the case, to be fair.

This is also a reason why the award is sometimes referred to as the Country Songwriter's Award.

It also has a rich and colorful history, having first been awarded at the 1965 Grammys. Some of the illustrious country crooners to have picked up the award in the past have included Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Tim McGraw.

The other nominees for Best Country Song this year included:

'Girl Goin' Nowhere' by Ashley McBryde & Jeremy Bussey (Performed by Ashley McBryde)

'It All Comes Out In The Wash' by Miranda Lambert, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose (Performed by Miranda Lambert)

'Some Of It' by Eric Church, Clint Daniels, Jeff Hyde & Bobby Pinson (Performed by Eric Church)

'Speechless' by Shay Mooney, Jordan Reynolds, Dan Smyers and Laura Veltz (Performed by Dan + Shay)

This year, it was the turn of the legendary Tanya Tucker.

"There are no words to express how I feel right now," said a clearly overwhelmed Tucker, who also picked up a Best Country Album Grammy for her record 'While I'm Livin'. Well, she certainly captured the mood of the night with her powerful songwriting, and that's more than we can ask for.
