Tamar Braxton is one of the ultimate queens from the '90s and she still manages to keep viewers entertained with her big bold personality three decades later. She recently appeared in the show 'To Catch a Beautician' on VH1 wherein she teamed up with Johnny Wright, Michelle Obama's hairdresser from when she was FLOTUS. Both of them were seeking justice for scorned customers that were left with bad hairdos after a visit to the salon in the recently concluded series.

She was also seen on an episode of HBO Max's show 'Legendary' inspired by ballroom culture and the sass she exhibited as she sat in the guest judge chair in the semi-final episode is something die-hard Tamar fans will never forget. Currently, the reality show queen has been taking time off with her family after she recovered from a suicide attempt after which her new show on WE tv, titled 'Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!', was postponed. However, it's been approximately two months (July 16) since the fateful incident and with Tamar in a better space, the showrunners of 'Get Ya Life!' too decided to set a new release date. The series premiere is scheduled to premiere in an hour from now and before it does, here's a look at the good, bad and ugly of Tamar's career as well as her net worth that is reported to be $3 million as of June 2020, according to Celebrity Net Worth. How did she come to amass all of it? Read on to know more.

A bumpy musical ride

For the uninitiated, Tamar started making music in the '90s with her sisters Toni, Taci, Towanda, and Trina after they were signed to Arista Records. However, the age difference between the members (Tamar was 10 years younger to Toni) created a problem with marketing following which the record label dropped them. After serving as a backup singer on her sister Toni's albums, Tamar decided to launch her solo career and released a self-titled album under Dreamworks Label but its failure led to her being dropped from the label, according to a BBC report. Her second album 'Love and War' came in 2013 with the title track being a massive hit on the Billboard charts and her rocky musical career finally appeared to have stabilized at this point.

Her third album 'Winter Loversland' too came in 2013 followed by another one titled 'Calling All Lovers' that came in two years later in 2015. Her 2017 album 'Bluebird of Happiness' was something that she found success with again.

Reality TV appearances

Tamar started appearing on 'Tiny and Toya' in 2010 and the very next year in April she was on the cast of her family's own reality show 'Braxton Family Values'. At the time she was married to her second husband Vincent Herbert and WE tv gave the couple their very own spin-off reality show called 'Tamar & Vince' which started airing in 2012. In 2013, she was cast on the daytime talk show 'The Real'; however, she was fired after two seasons. According to Daily Mail, the show's executives received negative feedback from focus groups, identifying her as "ghetto" that affected advertising sales and segment placement, which led to her being dismissed from the award-winning show.

She also competed on 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2015 with professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy. However, they ended up in the fifth position as she had to withdraw from the competitive series due to pulmonary emboli in her lungs. 2019 was a huge year for her as she won 'Celebrity Big Brother' unanimously with a 9-0 vote, making her first African-American to win the US version of the show.

Fashion Entrepreneur

Braxton launched a ready-to-wear clothing and shoe line, Tamar Collection, in November 2014.

'Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life' will premiere on September 10 and a new episode will air every Thursday at 10 pm only on WE tv.
