Amy Poehler is returning to television in a new Peacock comedy that takes her far from Pawnee and into the world of archaeology. The series marks her first major television collaboration with Mike Schur since ‘Parks and Recreation,’ which ended in 2015. Peacock has now released the first images from the project, showing Poehler alongside Hugh Laurie and the rest of the cast. The update also confirms when viewers can watch the entire season.

‘Dig’ will premiere on Peacock on Monday, November 23, with all 10 episodes releasing together. The series was first announced in May 2025, with Poehler starring and executive-producing. Peacock has not released a trailer yet, but the first-look images introduce several cast members.

Poehler plays Elise, while Laurie appears as Neville, a British professor who loves archaeology and wants to uphold the traditions of what he sees as a dying profession. He also considers himself a mentor to the people working at the site. One of the newly released images shows Elise and Neville together, while the remaining photos focus on the archaeologists, students, and other people involved in the expedition.

The comedy series is based on Kate Myers’ novel ‘Excavations.’ Peacock’s official logline reads, “Dig follows a team of dedicated archaeologists and less-dedicated college students as they spend their summer working on a dig site in Greece. Their discovery of a rare artifact sends them on the adventure of a lifetime. The show is an adaptation of Kate Myers’ bestselling book, 'Excavations.'” Geraldine Viswanathan stars as Dylan, Antonia Thomas plays Clare, and Fina Strazza appears as Patty. The guest cast includes Kayvan Novak as Stavros, Jon Pointing as Gary, and Bonita Friedericy.

Peacock’s first-look photos show Viswanathan, Thomas, and Strazza with Novak and Pointing in their respective roles. ‘Dig’ also brings Poehler and Schur back together more than a decade after ‘Parks and Recreation.’ They co-wrote the pilot and serve as executive producers, while J.J. Philbin is a writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner with Schur. Poehler also executive produces through Paper Kite. Universal Television produces the series alongside Fremulon, Paper Kite, Duck Duck Films, Dunshire, 3 Arts, and Ocean Avenue.
