'Succession' star Brian Cox set to appear in James Bond competition show '007's Road to a Million'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Golden Globe winner, Brian Cox who just made his departure from HBO's highly applauded show, 'Succession' where he played the character of Logan Roy, the head of the Roys family, has been pulled in to be a part of a forthcoming reality show '007's Road To Million'. Cox is going to determine the fate of the participants on the show.
The upcoming Prime Video show '007's Road To Million', also known as "James Bond Competition Show," will include contestants fighting in two teams on a global adventure for a cash prize of $12,47,800. Brian Cox will be in charge of everything while staying hidden in the shadows. Amazon Studios, Eon Productions, 72 Films, and MGM Alternative collaborated on the show. It is the very first time that Eon has permitted the Bond IP to be implemented in an unscripted setting.

'The Controller' is similar to 'Logan Roy'
Prime Video released the synopsis for Brian Cox’s part on the show, which read, “The Controller is villainous and cultured, and revels in the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome. He has millions of pounds to give away — up to $12,47,800 per couple — but he doesn’t make it easy. Whilst he lurks in the shadows, he is watching and controlling everything.”
Fans immediately saw parallels between Cox's 'The Controller' and the character he portrayed from 'Succession', Logan Roy, who was recognized to pull the cords for his family as a smart, ego-centric, self-made individual who took satisfaction in making people squeal, which also appears like what he would do on the show. Cox talking about the new project shared with Variety, “I got to see how ordinary people would cope with being on a James Bond adventure. As they travel the world to some of the most iconic Bond locations, it gets more intense and nail biting. I enjoyed my role as both villain and tormentor, with license to put the hopeful participants through the mangle.”
Logan Roy, played by Brian Cox, became such an iconic character on the show that after his death on the show, a real-life obituary was published in the Los Angeles Times to commemorate it. So, with that in mind, it seems as though Cox has been provided the opportunity to channel his iconic Logan Roy aura once more, but this time in James Bond style.
The Bond connection
The filmmakers have mentioned that they will be filming in familiar places such as Jamaica, Venice, and the Scottish Highlands, where franchise films have also been shot. The show's description indicates that it will be an uphill battle for fans of James Bond, as contestants will compete in pairs to answer questions about Bond, and the best player will win.
Amazon paid nearly $8.5 billion for MGM Studios, which distributes James Bond, last year. MGM Alternative and 72 Films will collaborate with EON Productions, the producers of the James Bond franchise, to launch the British reality show exclusively on Prime Video worldwide later this year.
The fourth and final season of ‘Succession’ is streaming on HBO currently.
