Spoilers for Suburra: Blood on Rome Season 3

Aureliano (Alessandro Borghi) and Nadia's (Federica Sabatini) relationship might not be a storybook romance, but the fact that two people – so broken and beaten by the streets – finally found each other is dreamy to some extent. Nadia, who's always been a tough cookie, has finally moved in with Aureliano, and everything about their ride or die relationship seems perfect. Although she has to earn her trust in the group of four, she soon starts working with Angelica Anacleti (Carlotta Antonelli) to handle the drug trafficking side of their business. Everything seems to be going right until a festive occasion arises, and Nadia is faced with her worst fears - the consequences of which end up causing a strain in her relationship with Aureliano.

It all starts with the return of Manfredi Anacleti (Adamo Dionisi) and his desire to reclaim his throne as the family's business patriarch, as younger brother Spadino (Giacomo Ferrara) had replaced him while he recovered in the hospital. Now that he's back and baby brother has tied up with their arch-rival, aka the Adamis through Aureliano, Manfredi wants the reigns back and deploys the most effective ambush at Spadino's party. Manfredi's men show up and start a full-blown brawl with Aureliano, and subsequently, the literal guns are pulled out. When one of Manfredi's men points a gun at Aureliano, Nadia, panicked and in the spur of the moment fires her own, ending up killing the Sinti family henchman.

This once again soars the animosity between the two families and the Anacleti's demand an explanation from Nadia. But Aureliano knows an explanation will turn into an inevitable altercation and absolutely bans Nadia from showing up, while he goes to negotiate the terms of their alliance by himself. Nadia however cannot let her man take the fall, and without informing Aureliano, shows up at the Anacleti property. As expected, they try to pin her to the cross, saved only by Angelica who lies and testifies for the other woman. Angelica claims she saw Nadia fire only in self defense - something she too would do if her man was threatened with a gun to his head. The Anacletis let Nadia and the Adamis go, but this brash decision to defy Aureliano puts a strain on his trust and bond with his girlfriend.

Luckily, this is short-lived and Aureliano understands why Nadia would risk her own safety knowing the stakes. Earlier, when she was upset about having killed a man, Aureliano kept reassuring her that she has nothing to feel bad about, and soon their sweet romance resumed. Sadly, all of this is met with tragedy in the final moments of the show, when Aureliano breaks down, expressing his worries over killing everything he touches, to none other than Nadia. In hindsight, the moment foreshadows his death in the finale, after he goes to save Spadino from a shootout ambush staged by the Sales and Manfredi, and dies in the gunfire himself.

'Suburra: Blood on Rome' Season 3 is now available for streaming, only on Netflix.
