After a three-month-long silence due to the recent coronavirus pandemic, the Ryman Auditorium opened its doors once again for a special fundraiser by the Grammy award-winning Americana legend Sturgill Simpson. Well-versed in country, folk and bluegrass, Sturgill was joined tonight for his special one-hour show by an all-star bluegrass band, and went live at 8 pm ET. The show has now concluded, but you can catch up with a replay in the video below.

Sturgill Simpson was in fine acoustic bluegrass-playing mode and was joined by his incredible band, which consisted of mandolinist Sierra Hull, fiddler Stuart Duncan, guitarist Mark Howard, banjo player Scott Vestal, bass player Mike Bub and longtime drummer Miles Miller. The caption for the YouTube video read: "After a call-to-action that raised nearly $250,000 for charity, Sturgill Simpson is honoring his fans with a special one-night performance broadcast live from the historic Ryman Auditorium. The show will continue fundraising efforts for several organizations including the Special Forces Foundation, the Equity Alliance, and the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. Come jam #withus at this very special event."

It was a special event indeed, with the Ryman Auditorium tweeting, "At long last, there's music back on stage at the Mother Church." And fans were excited and thrilled to be a part of this historic and entertaining night. One fan noted, "Bluegrass Sturgill Simpson might be my favorite Sturgill Simpson" and termed their ongoing bluegrass session as a "SMOKING HOT live set."

Another happy viewer declared, "Sturgill Simpson and his band are tearing it up at The Ryman" while a diehard emphatically declared, "I am currently watching the best bluegrass band in the world."

Fans were also quite pleased with what Sturgill Simpson had recently revealed, "This Sturgill Simpson livestream is the s***! He said he’s putting out two albums this year consisting of songs from his first 4 albums he re-recorded in a bluegrass style. This absolutely kills." We can't wait for that ourselves! As one fan noted, "Here’s to hoping he features Tyler Childers on a song lol."

Once he was done with his remarkable show, which included performances of 'Live The Dream' and 'Long White Line', among others, fans thanked him for "an amazing night" and even pleaded for an encore. As one satisfied fan concluded, "A Sturgill Simpson bluegrass concert is exactly what I needed today." Another supporter said, "God Sturgill Simpson doing straight-up bluegrass rules so much!"
