Spoilers for 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Season 7 Episode 7: 'Dangerous Debt'

In terms of plot, this episode does almost nothing in terms of advancing things forward. Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein), Rafa Martez (Elizabeth Rodriguez) and Trace Martez (Brigitte Kali Canales) bicker and bumble their way through an escape attempt, but ultimately end up right back where they started — imprisoned by the Pykes. It still, however, remains quite an entertaining episode, and the first chance we get to see Ahsoka really unravel her various talents since the show's long-awaited return.

While it's arguable the extent to which Ahsoka got Rafa and Trace in trouble the first place, she's still essential in getting them out of it. From the control pad on their cage to leaping across retracting bridges and taking out guards, nothing about the Martez sisters' escape would have been possible without Ahsoka's help. You can take the Jedi out of the fight, but you can't, apparently, take the fight out of the Jedi. Given that most characters on 'The Clone Wars' are involved with the war some way or the other, seeing a mission go awry simply because Rafa and Trace are not meant for stealth, escape, or combat missions is a very new kind of challenge for Ahsoka.

It's a little odd for brand new characters to be given this much screen time in a season that's meant to be wrapping up a very long-running series, but their story is compelling, nonetheless. Not enough time has been devoted to how ordinary people must see the Jedi order, stirring even more doubts in Ahsoka's mind. She may have left the Jedi Order, but a part of her must still cling to their ways, and beliefs and Rafa and Trace seem to be showing her a new perspective she's never really had the chance to see before.

The action in this episode is great. It feels like a breath held too long has been released, seeing Ahsoka use not just her Jedi abilities with the force, but her combat training as well, to their fullest extent. She's working twice as hard to keep herself, and the Martez sisters alive. Ahsoka, as we're learning here, would have made an excellent criminal, had she the mind for it, but it's okay. Fans of the franchise know that she might not ever become a criminal, but she's definitely on her way to being an excellent Rebel.

The next episode of 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' airs April 10, on Disney+.
